Where did i say that?

Also we didnt pay that amount.

Doesnt matter to me where assists come from when its 7-8 goals/assists per season for 3 years in a row.

The kid was an u21 international with promising numbers.

Those are facts.

The other critical fact is that hes been dreadful for 18months.

It’s like someone turned his button off.
Firstly, it does matter…A LOT. If the assists are coming from dead balls then he’s clearly not impacting a game

Secondly, they are awful facts and he his an awful player. There was nothing good about him when he came into the scene and he has regressed massively.

What I take away from watching McNeil recently is that most footballers careers are not even. How many get to a certain level and then keep it up, season in, season out? Seems like quite a few don't. Problem is, it's hard to know whether a good season or two is a player's high water mark, or whether it's the beginning of a top career. That season McNeil played against us and scored, crossing early and into dangerous areas, you'd think he's worth decent money. But now he just looks lost, no self belief and so one footed that he gets boxed in, with no passing options except the most timid.

Everyone signs a lemon at some point; problem is we've done it so frequently, and for such money, it's become a tragic comedy. Than again, probably could have written this about Iwobi...

But he hasn't done that in now over 18 months.

His form dropped off a cliff in the back end of 20-21 and he hasn't recovered it, or come close to looking like he will.

He is not what was needed.

Or he was just really a cack player?

@MassBlue sums it up well...

3 years of promising performances for Burnley. Value of £35mil and looking like he'd go up a gear in a better team.

1 bad season, we sign him and it becomes an 18month mess.

His button was turned off 18months ago.

I think we have seen enough to determine he is crap. And he is so bloody slow n lazy n has no aggression.

What was that promise though?

He never had the core attributes to improve - pace, strength, desire, all lacking. Has decent technique on one foot. Was never going to hit any heights.

I kept trying to understand the logic of this signing, I've stopped trying to understand now. There is no logic to it whatsoever, I don't think we could have spent that much needed money in a worse fashion had we tried. A poor player at this level and exactly what we didn't need.
