2022/23 Dwight McNeil

He is a good dribbler though, very good in fact. The question mark for me is just where he fits in and what he actually offers to this team as it is. I don't think he naturally fits as part of a front 3 and that is reflected in what we've seen from him so far. He's undoubtedly a decent player in his own right, it's just a case of whether he can adapt to find a role in the team where he can flourish.
Yeah, I was in favour of signing him, but he does have the look of a square peg at the moment.

All you can really do when you're out of form is keep putting the hard yards in and try to play through it, so credit to him for doing just that at Leeds.

I still think he's a technically gifted player, but I'm not sure he'll ever nail down a starting position long-term unless he's given a more traditional wide midfield role.

Played ok against Leeds. Worked hard. At the end of the day though, you can top the stats in ‘pressures’ (when has that been a thing) but if you are in the front 3 then you need goals.
Needs to add them if we are going to stay up.

He's going to start tomorrow and I'm ok with that.....

Think Gray may be the one to make way for Maupay. McNeill just offers more protection to Patterson, Gray on for the last 20.

Think it would suit him

I think we’ll start with the front three we’ve had each game so far, Maupay off the bench.

I think Frank will want both Gordon and Gray to run in behind but might not want to go all out and play them either side of Maupay from the start.

This is why we can’t score any goals. Our attack is toothless. He’s worthless we have Gana now.

Oh did I mention he’s slow whenever we’re on a counter attack and the ball gets passed to him.. the counter attack is over.

We should of threw a bag at Samuel Chukwueze this is going to haunt us.
It’s pointless writing off players after one or two games. Especially when tho other elements of the squad haven’t been put in place. His defensive stats the other night were immense. He was doing a job.

He has probably been brought in for his crossing ability, not his pace. He is there to provide the ammo for our strikers, neither of which we’re playing.

Sheedy was not fast, but he was one of the greatest.

McNeil may or may not be a success. I’m not passing judgement right now. It’s too early.
