2024/25 Dwight McNeil

I've always liked him as a player. I'm a sucker for a bit of hard work, and it's always been obvious he's got a cracking left foot. It's also always good to have a set piece specialist in the team. So, for those reasons, I've always liked him.

However, I've had my misgivings. I felt he was too slow for the wing, though I do feel he could effectively operate as a wide midfielder, with a flying winger on the right, and an attacking full back behind him.

I also felt he was too one footed for the central role, but really happy to see him proving me wrong.
This was my thinking as well. Thought the defenders would be able to read what he was going to do too easily, with him only being able to use one half of his body.

The lack of pace defo isn’t as noticeable when he’s played through the middle though.

would you not think nydie would be better they’re?
On paper I suppose, but both players are doing fine in their current positions.

The only thing I’d say with playing Ndiaye centrally is, you lose him as your outball as I reckon he’d be crowded out.
One of his biggest pluses has been his ability to get us up the pitch.

Our best player.
Wider context to that statement...

Ndiaye in middle be better for Beto, as he prefers playing off the shoulder.

Think N'Diaye and McNeil are both capable of switching positions at different times. We saw this the other week when N'Diaye dropped deep, ran through the middle and slotted, albeit vs Doncaster.
