2024/25 Dwight McNeil

Doucoure is pants
But McNeil is not a player we kick on with
I’f we want to kick on and try and be like a Villa, in the next few years you need better players than McNeil
I heard a pod a few months back liking him to sheedy 🤣🤣🤣
This is all very well and good to say, but the reality is we can’t just go out and buy whoever we want to ‘be like Villa’. Despite how hard you want to diminish his impact on the squad, we do miss him and his goal contributions. Considering hardly anyone else in the team scores, he’s a huge miss for the rest of the season (assuming we’re not brining anyone in who’ll come into the squad immediately)

Again, please define "massively overrated", and I hardly think one guy in a podcast is a trend.

I dont think it makes a lot of sense to criticize people thinking he would be a good player to have in our battle to avoid relegation, and follow that with "in the next few years you need better players than McNeil" which most everyone agrees with.

Ok maybe the word massively was wrong
But imo he’s a bog standard bottom half prem player and before Everyone Says that’s what we’re, but if we keep buying them players nothing changes. He’s is overrated by a lot of our fans, because our squad is poor and again I think you will find a lot who will think he will be good enough to challenge a lot higher. And yes it’s all about opinions and mine is he’s a very average player who has a half decent left foot

ndiaye has scored more than he got last season in half a season. The team has been set up by dyche to suit him, regarding set pieces how come he left Burnley for relegation fodder Everton and not one of the top 6 or teams on the up, Brighton, Villa, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Brentford etc. he was important in a dyche side, not convinced he will be in a Moyes side as the last 2 games have shown. Reminds me a bit like kilbaine and Moyes moved him on a upgraded him with Pienaar

I think we will spend money in the summer and teams like Brighton, Bournemouth have proved you don’t need to spend 400 mil to compete

sad state of affairs we are longing for the return of this championship snail
Ah, come on.

In his 244 game career he hasn’t played 1 in the championship. Premier league the whole time.

Also in his 15 games this season he’s Scored 4 and assisted 3. I’d say before his injury he was playing well. You may notice after his injury we went from a pretty poor outfit and changed into an absolutely awful one.

Yes, he’s not got a lot of pace. But he works incredibly hard and has a wand of a left foot.

Is he the future of the starting 11 if we want to push for European places? Probably not. We’re not anywhere near there right now. We’re just trying to stay in the league.

But as someone to bring on as a different option when the opposition is tired? I’d argue he’d play his part.

Let’s just hope for a win today. A safe end to the season. And hopefully (towards the end of the season) a fit McNeil, with Moyes having a chance to see what he can do in a slightly more progressive/confident team.
