Dyche and Thelwell

As discussed many times, you are prepared to give Dyche the benefit of the doubt and point to extenuating circumstances with regard to the context we should evaluate his performance in.

You aren't willing to do the same for Thelwell, and at that point your argument ceases to objective.

End of conversation really.

I’m on record as supporting Dyche but it’s been largely dire this season. I hoped he’d make us better but it’s not looking that way, I can’t defend or make excuses for performances like today. I think his anchievement last season was terrific but I fully understand posters who want him out and have no issues if that happens.

I’m on record as not being a fan of Thelwell but know lots think he’s doing a good job. I don’t. It doesn’t mean I have an agenda, I’d like him to be good. I don’t get he can only sign players on ‘pay nothing up front, pay later deals’, it’s no excuse to sign poor footballers. I don’t get he has little money to spend, DoFs are paid lots of money to find players within the budget they have.

I think it’s important the Manager and DoF are on the same page but I thought there were a few telling quotes tonight from Dyche suggesting they’re not.

He said; “I like Fulham, they have recruited really well”, suggesting we haven’t. Asked why he doesn’t play 4-4-2 as he often did at Burnley, he said “I don’t have the personnel to do it here’.

So, maybe there’s an issue here. Maybe it’s not Dyche and Thelwell, maybe it’s more Dyche v Thelwell. Interesting what the new owner does as these are the key appointments in any club.
Funny thing is mate, if he did play 4-4-2 who ya think plays left and do you really think he okays Ndiaye right.

Basically in a 4-4-2 Dyche drops Ndiaye for McNeil .

I'd also add DCL cannot play in that system every time he's been played up front with another cf it's flopped.

Dyche is not a very good manager. I don't think think he'll be here next season. I just don't enjoy watching this Everton team play.

I have no idea if Thelwell is good at his role. Our recruitment has been pretty poor IMO but we've had little money to spend and equally Dyche has often not even selected the née signings. So I find it hard to evaluate Thelwell's performance.

Dyche is a tactical dinosaur, his teams are awful to watch, he had no idea how to deal with anything Fulham had to offer today apart from sit deep and knock it long, No wonder Calvert Lewin wants away.
And as for Thelwell he literally been given no money to spend for about 3 years, what are you expecting him to do, also you need to take into consideration how difficult it must be to convince good players to come here and play under this manager.
Hopefully TFG are already planning to move Dyche on, Thelwell needs the opportunity to show what he can achieve with financial backing.

As a bilbao I am used of not dominating possession, a bit like Andoni or Emery, we had home games with 38% this season against bottom half teams.

This squad played some good football against Bournemouth and it was the same eleven apart from 2 players.

Surely Fulham have a much better offensive mix in the squad. But Everton should be able to play better football than that.

The whole “don’t have personnel” argument is null and void

A team like the one below should comfortably be mid table at least

Pickford
Patterson
Branthwaite
O’Brien
Mykolenko
Gueye
Mangala
Lindstrom
Ndiaye
McNeil
Beto

He just chooses to play the donkeys who can’t pass or have zero creative ability

That's a championship level team.
