That would be my approach tooIf it was me it would be a director of football first , strategy, philosophy and recruitment of manager who will work well with the DOF.
Both are out of contract soon so hopefully they have already identified a replacement or they decide to keep Kev.
It’s clear as day Dyche is ignoring O’Brien and is only grudgingly using Lyndstrom and Mangala. A canyon between him and Thelwell.I’m on record as supporting Dyche but it’s been largely dire this season. I hoped he’d make us better but it’s not looking that way, I can’t defend or make excuses for performances like today. I think his anchievement last season was terrific but I fully understand posters who want him out and have no issues if that happens.
I’m on record as not being a fan of Thelwell but know lots think he’s doing a good job. I don’t. It doesn’t mean I have an agenda, I’d like him to be good. I don’t get he can only sign players on ‘pay nothing up front, pay later deals’, it’s no excuse to sign poor footballers. I don’t get he has little money to spend, DoFs are paid lots of money to find players within the budget they have.
I think it’s important the Manager and DoF are on the same page but I thought there were a few telling quotes tonight from Dyche suggesting they’re not.
He said; “I like Fulham, they have recruited really well”, suggesting we haven’t. Asked why he doesn’t play 4-4-2 as he often did at Burnley, he said “I don’t have the personnel to do it here’.
So, maybe there’s an issue here. Maybe it’s not Dyche and Thelwell, maybe it’s more Dyche v Thelwell. Interesting what the new owner does as these are the key appointments in any club.
Even if the two they brought in were Begiristain and Mancini?Over time that’s possibly the best thing to do but I think new owners brining in new DoF and a New manager at the same time is a little too risky.
Yep too risky. The reality is I think we wouldn’t bring them in….its less risky I think if both manager and DoF are aligned in footballing philosophy like Emery and Monchi but overall too risky a move and if the DoF is the executive that looks after footballing vision, strategy and execution throughout the club to give the club a footballing identity (buzzword is DNA) the DoF really is the first decision that needs to be made.Even if the two they brought in were Begiristain and Mancini?
Agree that clearly SD is not going to be here going forward. Especially if they were there today lol.Yep too risky. I suspect they know they won’t be retaining Dyche’s service so in my opinion it is likely they will retain the services of Thelwell even if only for a moderate extension of contract and they will involve him in the decision making process.
100% that's what it is.We’ve definitely regressed this season. Despite the fact, we did spend money in the Summer. Ndiaye, O’Brien we paid decent money for, Tim (one for the future, but he looks promising). Lindstrom, Broja and Mangala on loan. That’s 7 players recruited and only Ndiaye is a regular for us. Maybe it’s because as you alluded to, Dyche isn’t happen with the recruitment from Thelwell. But whatever the reason, that’s 7 players brought in, more than one of them should be making an impact. It’s not like they’re trying to break into a city 11. Or is it down to the fact Dyche only has a plan A and doesn’t have the ability to adapt his tactics to get more out of these newly recruited players, who we don’t know if he wanted them in the first place.
No input other than silly jibes - get lost will you .... @Eggs puts a good post in & its farming to you ? go & get your P T O changed ....
