ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Fabinho has been a failure, whenever he plays there is no solidity to their play whatsoever, they concede hatfuls of chances whenever he's in the team. He's marginally better than Keita but that's the best you can say about him.
I have to disagree there mate, Fabinho has properly improved over the course of the year and has been really good whenever I watch him. Definitely looks an improvement in their midfield.

Keita on the other hand is proper gash.

Chelsea doing a Leeds is entirely dependant on Abramovich. Definite possibility no?

United, well not much chance of a Leeds, but they have been massively hamstrung by the debt. They've not done a Leeds but they've done an Arsenal. A couple more Sanchezes etc and the Leeds scenario isn't so crazy.

Spurs, no idea about their repayment plan but the increase in gate revenue should easily cover the repayments. Haven't really been relying on CL money either so probably wasn't a part of their budget plan. Naming rights to bring in a lot and they've got prime north london real estate to flog so should be ok really.

Liverpool's stratospheric wage bill is definitely worrying. i think it was a painful £243m in last years accounts and risen dramatically since then, they need to keep selling their best players to stay solvent. They'd have recorded a massive loss if they hadn't sold their best layer to Barcelona. For me, they are on the brink far more than the other 3. Which is a shame.

This is it. I am surprised he was so derisory at the suggestion it was possible. He then seemed to defend that position by throwing in 2 or 3 other teams it could very easily happen too as if this made Liverpool's position any more secure. A rather odd response.

Chelsea are going through managed decline. Is Abramovic pulled out though, and demanded his money back there would certainly be problems in the short term. I think they are teetering to be honest. I remember with Leeds there were a couple of seasons like they've had and then it all went wrong.

United is right too. Their brand is declining in relevance over time. The only thing I would add, is that they are almost like Arsenal but keep trying to act like Real Madrid. I have concerns for them over this OGS appointment.

Spurs should be ok. The debt payments are enormous though (well over double what we are forecast to have to pay back, and could end up 3-4 times as high).

Liverpool you have the issue of the debt, and that wage bill is enormous. It only takes the growth of the game to slow up a bit, or reverse a bit and it's a big big problem, when factored in together. Are you saying I am correct in saying there £450m turnover was also dependant (in part) due to Coutinho? If so they will need to sell again in the summer? Maybe Mane for 50? Sarah for 100?

Thats some wage bill though, over £250 million quid. Miss the CL once and you are done, as they were under Benitez. Had the authorities not stepped in Hodgson would have taken them down that season with the fire sale in January. It's a big gamble what they are doing, enjoy it while it works, but don't go crying if/when it doesn't and expecting sympathy and to be bailed out again. There would be some poetic justice in them going the way of Leeds.

You have signed up to their forum Steve. You not remember posting this...........

I'm proper obsessed with that lot. I've got an account on rawk where I pretend to be a red. I'm quite the oddball. ;)

I've genuinely no idea if you're being serious.

Think you're selling Mane a bit short if you reckon he goes for £50M when we've posters on here suggesting Richarilson shouldn't go for anything south of £70M. Nor do I think Salah would be sold for £100M in today's market

Dave promised (and continues to promise) the RS would lose every single game. Bound to get some right sooner or later.

A complete amateur.

Laughing at last night's headlines all about Spurs/City, with tacked on "..and Liverpool go through".

They'll be spitting 'kin blood over that.

It's great to know that they've had a ropey CL campaign full of errors and favourable draws and are now at the SF stage having gained no recognition for it and they'll be webbed all over the shop by Barcelona and out.

Short answer is no. Football club's turnover is made up of match day, commercial and broadcasting. In the case of that lot - £81m, £220m and £154m giving the t/o figure of approx £450m. Profit on player sales is accounted for as a separate item after Operating Profit and before Profit before Interest and Tax.
