ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

I've been contemplating looking at it like insurance.

Throw £225 on it... if they win, £1000 could pay for a week out of the City to avoid the worst of the celebrations... and I'd definitely pay £225 for them not to win the league.
Been thinking this myself
But even winning the money id still be gutted so i dont think its worth it

Its still loose loose

City could end up this season winning a domestic treble on the back of a season when they broke 100 points. Liverpool could end up another season empty handed yet Salah and Van Dijk have been player of the year. If I was Bernardo Silva Sterling or Laporte I’d be fuming. Like seriously apart from run his gob off in the media at every given opportunity what has Van Dijk done on the pitch that Laporte hasn’t? Nothing.

It's funny really that Laporte for me hasn't got anywhere near the level of plaudits, given his performances for me have been at a similar level. They are the best 2 defenders in the league by some distance. I'd also say Laporte has been the key missing part of the jigsaw for them. He's also what, 3-4 year younger than VVD and still improving. What a footballer he will become.

salah will go regardless, anything close to 150m they will sell, barca cant sign him until 2020 so it will have to be madrid.

his 27 in june pace is essential to his game, he has 3-4 years left

To be honest, it would be a very smart move from Liverpool to sell in excess of 100 million for Liverpool, like they did re Coutinho. It allowed them to re-strengthen in other areas. Without a big sale (and they won't get a fortune for Mane) they are probably struggling to recruit in the manner they would like too.

Spot on this. My brother, non blue, who casually follows football, but has a tendency to mirror Sky 'truisms' was talking up the virtues of Van Dijk and Allison, but seemed confused when I was talking about Laporte and how he deserved equal credit to Van Dijk.

The main difference seems to be that Van Dijk talks himself up, whereas Laporte seems to go quietly about his craft. It's incredible he can't game a game for France.

This is a great point, they get these fees and reinvest in talent, it has to stop or eventually they will over take city

Not if they invest £100 million in players like Keita and Fabinho....both massively over rated by them, still not good enough to knock average players like Milner, Wijnaldum and Henderson out of there first choice starting 11 and positions they still need to improve if they want to challenge regularly.

I think Laporte remains City's most important player.

I think Fabinho is actually quite good in the 6 role, but Keita is very ordinary. It's funny as I remember them being aghast when the suggestion that he was around a Gana level was ludicrous. It has turned out to be ludicrous, but for the opposite reasons they've stated- Gana is a substantially better player than Keita is.

This is the difficulty for them though. To keep pulling rabbits from the hats. The last summers intake was not as good. I am not certain the Spanish clubs will be as keen to pay enormous fees for Salah either, when Hazard is available for under £100 million.

plus VVD is very distinctive being massive, dark skinned with a pony tail. I couldn't even pick Laporte out of a line up tbh

I can't wait for this season to be over, going to spend all summer trolling tnem hard on social media if they come out with nowt, and into next season

I mean, feel free to do so but really what traction will you have? Second in the league and at minimum a CL semi-final, you'd swap Liverpools season for Evertons in a heartbeat.

Hard to win a league and hard to win a CL, going close in both is no shame compared to coming absolutey nowhere near in either, which is what the weird narrative on here appears to be developing into.

The fact it's Everton they talk about more then any other club and it was the draw at Goodison that swung it back to City, beat us, as in the club they laugh at, and they win the title.
Coming close is still failure.

If you finished second next season and saw it in such black and white terms as 'failure' then you may as well give up on football. Don't bother with the 38 game season and the journey through it, just give the trophies out at the end and have done with it.

I'd swap seasons with a side that wins trophies mate, (which could be them). Lets not insult ourselves to think we're in a position whereby we swap places with a side of less who win nothing though (if they do not win anything).
