ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

The officiating is corrupt. There's no question about it. However, the bigger picture is this: if City beat Leicester tomorrow, there's no amount of official bias that can change the outcome of that final game versus Brighton - it'll be out of sight by HT. Then from next season the corruption will be substantially reduced with VAR being brought in.

It's just all down to tomorrow night.

Early January Liverpool had this in the bag. Now City can end their season - at home against a team 9th in the league - in 90 minutes.

VAR wouldn’t have made a blind bit of difference last night.

Once Atsu put the ball in the net the handball incident became moot.......the goal rendered it so.

It happened in a cup tie at Goodison versus Villa, the quarter final the season we reached the Final.

One of their players blatantly cleared the ball off his line with his hand but Rodwell buried the rebound and the Villa player escaped censure.

And VAR would not have used to clear up an incident out on the touchline so far from goal, as far as my reading of VAR goes.

Would VAR have had their 3rd goal disallowed cause Origi was climbing all over the defender and had his arm across his face. I doubt it. The amount of times we've had headed goals disallowed for less than that, it's unbelievable. I can think of a few times just off the top of my head. Wayne Clarke against them at the pit if my memory serves me right, to name one.

DCL’s one at home to Spurs when we were leading 1-0.

And a Disdin effort at The Pit in Moyes’s last derby.

VAR might not have changed last night fundamentally. But there's been pens given this season to Liverpool that have been outrageous. Just one ruled out would have seen them out of the title race a month ago.

Not to mention the numerous offside goals they've had.

Oh no doubt.

VAR is going to affect them greatly over the course of a season, starting in August :)

He's qualified for a final where if he wins he doesn't get the trophy.

We all know if it was an actual final he would lose, so by calling it a final and winning it, he can feel like he's not a serial bottler.

Then again look how the last game he called 'a world cup final' turned out - he drew hahaha.

Maybe he should stop saying final altogether
