Carragher was ousted, at various times, by Ferdinand, Campbell, Terry, Woodgate, Ledley King....every single one was comfortably better than that cart horse.

There are examples of poor players playing instead of better ones....Carragher really is NOT a good choice to illustrate the point.

That's just your opinion. Campbell, Woodgate (really?), King... Terry was a London-based sh1t-kicker who also gota way with murder at times. Ferdinand was average at best, but hey, he played for ManUre...

Threw his dummy out of the pram because Ledley King was in front of him. And who was a far better defender just blighted by injuries.
It's easy to retire from international football when you can't get a game anyway

King tended towards the totally average rather than the exceptional...

do you seriously rate the camel over terry, king, campbell and ferdinand?

I think they were all over-rated. My original point was the bias towards London-based players. Sometimes (read often) the original point is lost because people go off on a tangent to argue their own case...

From what I'm told by older blues and reds this was quite a thing back in the day, I would say this is less geography based in the modern game and more a case of the more media frenzied clubs players get more exposure of more international opportunities, ings and lallana being good examples at the RS.

I actually think campbell is somewhat underrated, possibly because he is a massive bellend, but he was a great defender, carragher was lucky to get as many caps as he did in my opinion, always simply a case of better players around. There may well be players who didn't get as many opportunities as they deserved because they never moved to a club with more media exposure, but I don't think the geography of the club matters anymore

Blues have always had a level of apathy towards the national teams, from what I have seen the kopites are just trying to 'out-scouse' each other by turning it into a hatred

Not strictly true that, is it?

England team = London based, and favourites.

Is this a case of someone going off at a tangent to justify the inclusion of Beckham (United), Lingard (United), Henderson (RS), Lallana (RS)? All players who play for non-London based teams.

Ferdinand was possibly the best English centre back of all time. In case you hadn't noticed 'manure' were pretty good when he was around.

6 premier league titles to Carragher's 0.

Woodgate was absolutely brilliant but unfortunate with injuries, Madrid didn't buy him for a laugh.

Duncan Edwards, Colin Todd, Bobby Moore, Jack Charlton & Brian Labone (for starters) might have something to say about your first sentence...

As for your second paragraph, how many titles did Le Tissier win, or Shearer in comparison? Those two blow away your contention immediately.

Point taken. I omitted originally the favouritism slant. That is there to this day.

Duncan Edwards was a midfielder who died when he was 21.
Colin Todd, nope!!!!!!???
Bobby Moore, the epitome of the hyped up cockney.
Jack Charloton, nope.
Brian Labone, nope.

Duncan Edwards played in several positions, centre half among them.
Colin Todd was THE class central defender.
Moore was a cockney, but also an excellent player.
Jack Charlton - one of the most solid centre halves ever to pull on an England shirt
Brian Labone - pity Jack Charlton was around at the same time.

I suspect you were not alive when these guys were in their prime (Edwards excepted, as he was not yet in his prime, but was still a colossal player despite his young years).
