Duncan Edwards played in several positions, centre half among them.
Colin Todd was THE class central defender.
Moore was a cockney, but also an excellent player.
Jack Charlton - one of the most solid centre halves ever to pull on an England shirt
Brian Labone - pity Jack Charlton was around at the same time.

I suspect you were not alive when these guys were in their prime (Edwards excepted, as he was not yet in his prime, but was still a colossal player despite his young years).

Well i wasn't but most of those names aren't even common suggestions. Doubt you saw enough of any of them, other than Labone, to make much of a judgement yourself though.

Let's just say I started watching Everton around 1956.

And the first Match of the day from the 1960s onwards. Which meant you saw them every week of the season, every season...

As for Duncan Edwards, when I was a kid, HE was No. 1 superstar of English football, before the term had been coined with regard to footballers. Ask anyone else of my age - you'll get the same response.

Carragher was an utter no mark whose entire career was saved by one game (that he still conceded 3 in). He shouldn’t have any England caps. Not in the same league as Adams Campbell Terry Ferdinand Woodgate King which is why they all started ahead of him even when half fit. Lucky to be an international footballer.
Is right.

Obviously you are older than most so maybe your memory is failing. MOTD did not show every game in those days so you couldn’t see them every week of the season, every season.

lol.

MOTD back then showed highlights of one or two games. Wasnt until the PL that it started showing highlights of every match.

The only live games were the FA Cup final, and a few England ones.

But you DID see the players I mentioned, as well as seeing them at Goodison season after season.

What IS your argumentative point...??? You never saw them, so you are correct?

I was just noting that you didn’t see them every week of the season, every season. BTW, I’m not saying you are wrong about the players you listed. That is a top list.
