"its because of all the energy Big Stand generates"

Just missed him, but by all accounts he had it all, such talented player, he could probably play anywhere, Centre Half included and probably did.
But including him in a list of regular International specialist Centre Halves, is pushing it a bit
Dying so early makes it all a bit moot, maybe he could have.

FFW 8yrs to 66 and for the purposes of arguement I could see him in B Charlton's position rather than J Charlton's...or maybe at a push in B Moore's semi sweeper/2nd CB position or even N Stiles...with T Kay losing out yet again.

He was already an international with 18 appearances, degsy.

Had he lived for the 1966 World Cup, I think he would definitely have made the team, being in the prime of his career at that point.

As for Styles/Kay: Stiles was a hard player, Kay was a hard player with class to boot.

Ferdinand average at best? Are you on crack?

Don't be so insulting. He was bang average. The players in front of him protected him a hell of a lot at club level. A certain RS player ripped him one goodstyle at OT, showing him up for what he was... He was part of that so-called 'golden England team' that were proved not to be able to deliver when it came to the serious games...

I thought Ferdinand was a class defender, perhaps he just had a slip in that game?

I think that is the problem though, SMB. These players are elevated to such a level by the media, that it reaches the point where THEY believe the hype around them. Then when they are put to the test and are against real quality (which Torres was at the time, we have to admit), they are found out. It's happened for over a decade in recent times with the national team, with abysmal dispays in the World Cup, and the last disaster in the European Championship when the England team was totally embarrassed.

Emre can sign for juve a on a 4 year contract on a free. 135k a week plus a 14million signing on fee.

It's pretty smart actually, after 4 years he will leave on a free again unless juve double his wages. I think a lot of players are going to start doing this in the future

This dude isn't/wasn't keen on him...

I wonder if he'll be able to find some super advanced statistical metrical data sets that now prove he's even better than Fekir.
He rates 54% higher than Fekir in knee strength to discount bid price, which is a key metric in advanced statistical modelling methods that indicate Elite level players. If he is bought by Liverpool, this statistic is an absolute indicator in succeeding in the Alternative Premier League and going unbeaten in the Lawro Predictions for the upcoming season.

Point neatly side stepped
Edwards was NOT a centrehalf
