May be a little controversial opinion and it may just be me labeling the whole fanbase but............
Hillsbrough, how much longer do we need to hear about it?
I mean the familys have got there trials, the minute they won the familys asked to not do a rememberence service at anfield anymore as they wanted to begin to put it behind them.
We have minutes silences on the radio for it 30 years on but the same people shouting loudest about hillsbrough and the 96 couldnt care less about any other tragedy that has happened over that time, its purely based on what football club it involved.
It gets brought up as a tool to use to either play the marter or to take the moral high ground over something wether it was hillsbrough intended or not.
The types of people that do not couldnt care less about the 96, its just used as a badge of honour and a look at me symbol.

Over the years gradually there must of been 60, 000 reds at hillsbrough the amount that say they were there.

I was 4 in 89 so to young to remember it, but i had family members who were at the norwich semi, and they had mates who were at hillsbrough (genuinly), and at the time it f%$*ed them up, but none of them harp on about it now, they just remember it in there own little way, probably exactly the same how anyone remembers a loved one who they have lost, they dont go shouting to the roof tops about it.

What the familys have been through and fought for is inspiring, but there are certain people (and im trying not to generalise a fanbase as there are plenty of ace reds out there who dont) who use it as a badge which sullys the name of everythibg they have bern through
Very sensitively and sensibly put. It's a lot to do with the lies and injustice that were heaped upon the fans there from the authorities who were too busy covering up their guilt and blaming those they failed to protect.

There's a big difference between virtue signalling and sensitive remerberance of Hillsborough disaster however. I hope the latter wins out.

Hillsborough took the best part of 30 years to get the bare minimum of appropriate action taken. It needs to be heard and repeated because the actions of those in power were a disgrace before, during and after.

Many fans stayed away from Hillsborough that year because of their experience the year before. It was a disaster waiting to happen that almost did happen on prior occasions.

Let's not confuse rivalry and us rubbing their noses in losing the league and their entitled mannerisms with their fight for justice. Their tenacity and our support has seen that case come a long way. It's about human rights - 96 fans never returned home to their loved ones because of mismanagement and negligence and Thatcher and her cronies pinned the blame on drunken Scousers.

Things like this will continue to plague the working class, disability benefits cuts leading to deaths/suicides, soldiers dying homeless on our streets, all part and parcel for that lot in power.

Had a very near similar experience. Only difference is they started shouting louder and louder, which they obviously thinks makes them more correct. Shouting led to aggression of course.
I presented facts as well but they won’t have it.
These are very mild mannered people, nearly 70, and don’t usually bother with football.

Weird, strange behaviour & I really believed they were exempt from the cult.
This title loss cuts deeper than they realise and I fkin love it.

Yes it does cut deeper. Same here about cult exemption. And voices were raised but when I showed them on official premier league transfer site that their owners haven’t invested as much as City and actually raised almost twice as much in player sales than city in last 5 years I won some peace. Quote those players at them and ask them to name one City player who has been a waste of money. Answer Guardiola hasn’t signed any duds.

The RS in our house were mainly in their mid-70s. They’re Going to Madrid too and never seen them so subdued about a final.

All of that i agree with 100% but i feel you have missed my point mate.

What relevence does hillsborough have to 19 year old james in dover who has a twitter handle of @ultrasalah and has voted conservative his whole life.
Or even the ones closer to home who use it as a tool of 1 upmanship, similar to that guy at your mates funeral who your mate only spoke to a few times at the pub out of politeness yet is there telling everyone who will listen hoe great mates they are. A grief spectator if you will.

It dilutes the efforts and the effectiveness on everything thats gone on before it

We will never hear the end of it because it's a tagline. It's a marketing tool just like 'you'll never walk alone'. None of their fans believe in either of them, they just blindly follow because that's what the rest of the sheep are doing.

According to DOC RED on Rawk, City had it very easy (see comment below)... The treble that does not count ha ha. Thank the lord for RS fans who can show us all how rubbish city really are lol. Not bitternes by RS though ha ha.

"To be fair though, the Carling Cup tends to be the cup teams rotate dor, especially if they're going after the Champions league.
Winning the league is tough, but for them to win the domestic cups they faced the easiest set of fixtures you can imagine. I think bar Chelsea, every other team was an incredibly easy matchup.

They were very fortunate with their cup runs."

"The person"..... there were about 10 fans minimum holding it up. There were other fans posting pictures of it like it's something to be proud of.

Let's reverse the scenario.... if Juventus fans had pushed the wall onto Liverpool fans and as a result Verona (who won the league in 1985) were banned from playing in the European cup and had Juve Fans goading them with "bucharest 86" flags there would be an outrage.

Whether that "person" was alive in 85 or not - you didn't need to be alive. 39 fans never came back from a football match... Liverpool fully well understand the pain of families who have lost someone who went to watch a game of football. Using a tragedy as a means of point scoring over rival fans is a disgrace.

Without being disrespectful, thousands of their fans were never alive when Hillsborough happened and still put jft96 on the end of their social media posts.... Presumably just to fit in. It's another stupid kopite deflection of blame to say they may not have even been born.

Two competitions the RS went out early in are easy competitions now, right. Whereas that really hard champions league title where you can lose half your games including crevena zveda is a lot harder.

Mate, sensitively put. To put rememberance into context for some of us (Blues). As you say you were 4 at the time. I was 17 at the time and I was at villa park that day. Some cousins and mates went to Hillsborough. The night before loads of mates together blues and reds in the pub. On that day a friend of mine who was with us the night before died at Hillsborough. It took all night to find one of my cousins alive (just) in Sheffield. Whether red or blue, all of us who had been in the pub that night felt (and most do still feel) some form of survivors guilt. As long as we all live we will remember that day and yes I’ve long been sickened by the way it’s been hijacked, branded and woven by LFC onto scarves, kit and into their history along with honours won. The sense of loss will never change, but the justice process was ‘won’.

And now the memory of the victims and the day should be returned to the private grief of those affected. It won’t though!
