ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Their net spend argument is hilarious bordering on distasteful. So they spent a lot of money on players like Torres, Mascherano, Alonso, Riera, Agger, Keane to try and win the premier league. Money it turns out that they didn’t actually have. When that debt was called in and they couldn’t pay it they cried in an absurd legal ruling allowing FSG to swoop in and not only take control of the club at around 30% of its true value but also wipe the club of its debt. FSG then went about selling those players (or the players bought on the back of fees those players raised) 50 mill for Torres etc. The club then slapped residents of Anfield with compulsory purchase orders to drive them out of their homes after running the local area purposefully into the ground to build a new stand to increase their revenue.

After all of this, a couple of years down the line and they’ve spent more money than any club in a single year including 2 world record fees and they’re out lecturing everyone on net spend and how they’re taking the good fight to the oil clubs. It’s honestly sickening. Their fake virtue signalling and lack of any self awareness whatsoever is nauseating. They basically spent money they didn’t have building up a massive asset base to get them into the CL on a regular basis, avoided the natural consequence of doing this (in a way Leeds didn’t) and have traded of those CL revenues and player trading revenues ever since only to sign up other fans forums to peddle a load of self righteous guff about net spend. Absolutely shameless.

Excellent post, this is why they are everybody's second favourite team :). True champions of the under privileged, pillars of the community , as I speak EITC, is probably being changed on RAWK to LITC # ynwa. Brace, you need a good lie down lad.

I am still confident that bigger clubs will get him soon
Virgil been in his ear for months so maybe but they have their own mega talent in Gomez tho. I'm hoping he kompany replacement tho.
Not sure if Gomez is better than Stones, Otamendi
Juventus contact LFC over making Klopp their new manager ?
I am sorry if you found that comment disgraceful but I don’t know in depth about that event. I shouldn’t have commented on it.

Dear god, can we get pest control in here?

You know how FFP works Dave? It’s not just spending y’know, the oldest transfer there is Carroll ( I think) in Jan 2011. So. Let’s go thru EVERY sale (not just the most expensive ones) from jan 2011 and compare them to City.

2011 RS. City
50m Zero

2012 5m. 16m

2013. 6m. 34m

2014. 25m. 12m

2015. 83m. 46m

2016. 65m. 32m

2017. 75m. 4m

2018. 185m. 79m

Total. 494m. 223m

The RS have bought in 494m compared to City’s 223m in transfer sales. 271m more than City, just in transfers. Then, obviously, counter in revenues etc. There’s a reason why only one club is in the headlines regarding FFP. No doubt I’ll get accused of being a RS but the half truths you come out with are ridiculous.

Imagine that this is your life. Don't be so bitter mate, they were better than you, just accept it, it's not about money, it's all about the better team, just congratulate them on being the better team and move onto next season.

Amazed at some of the backlash to city in the media lately, they've not given a hoot for several years now about how hey go about their business but now it's denied Liverpool their one shot at a title in 30 years it's a different story.

Chelsea have had an Oligarch running them for the last 15 years but because they’ve not been in a title race with Liverpool there’s never been a problem with that but when City beat the greatest team ever to walk the planet to the title there’s calls for a human rights commission to trace the Sheik’s money.

Show me a billionaire anywhere who hasn’t done something shady to get or keep their billions.

I thought their title pain would only last a day before their CL propaganda machine kicked in to sweep it under the carpet but they can’t seem to move on from this and it’s absolutely delicious.

Hi Steve, no, I’m not hurting at all. I’ve enjoyed the last week immensely, thank you. I just happen to think that what City are doing is bad for football, good for us, (at the moment) but bad for football. The fact that they can do it with a total disregard of the rules. We got a transfer a ban. Chelsea looks like they’ll have one, the RS have had one. City gave Jadon Sancho 200k when he was 14, as per Footyleaks, where’s their ban? We all go on about fair treatment. Well? I’ve been a city fan the last few weeks, but you can’t deny that what they’re doing is good? It’s only good because it stopped them winning the title, but is that what we’ve become? The RS will be nowhere next season, City will still win it, because they have a disregard of the rules, yet we’ll carry on supporting it? It’ll come back to bite us on the Arsenal soon. There’s a reason they’re being investigated, and we’re quite happy to sit back and be happy for them to do it? Where’s our morals?

lol lol lol

Every single person has figured you out. I’d advise to stop this ridiculous behaviour immediately.

Brilliant post and spot on.

I’ve been wanting to post something similar all week but didn’t have the time or knowledge to put it across as well as that.

That’s utter bollocks. You’d swear they were selling their star assets every year and not replacing them.

They get kings ransom for god awful reserve players like solanke, Ibe and that keeper nobody heard of and your acting like the squad is being dismantled and they’re fighting against all the odds.

Net spend was a valid argument for us when we went 2 years without actually signing anyone yet players were still being sold.

But Jesus Christ what a pathetic argument you’ve come up with here. You should be embarrassed of yourself

Embarrassed of myself? I’m not acting like their squad is being dismantled whatsoever. Wind it in. Please tell me where my post is pathetic, and why I should be embarrassed. Davek, as usual, posted that the RS are financial dopers, posting the 10 most expensive transfers by them to prove it!!! Shall we post our 10 most expensive signings, without any outgoings? Would that be ok? The post you’ve quoted is the transfer fees received in the time scale Dave used. It’s relevant. it’s not a pathetic argument as it’s fact. You’re obviously having trouble coming to terms with it. The only thing that is embarrassing, is me arguing for ‘them’. I’m not, I’m against Davek and is ridiculous statements and half truths. He has actually stated that he hates them more than he loves us, that’s what we’re dealing with here, and that’s a little snippet of what’s wrong with our fan base.

They entered into an arms race with City and lost. Deal with it. Whilst Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs have scaled back spending due to stadium issues, ownership etc. Liverpool, United, City decided that they would plough huge amounts of money into managerial appointments and players transfer fees and wages. The truth is that this has been achieved to varying degrees of success with City the best of breed recruiting the best manager and best players. Liverpool have recruited well too but don’t have the trophies to show for it whilst United despite getting some early success with Mourinho seem to have done the worst of the three.

Trying to deny that Liverpool haven’t been active participants in this game is ridiculous though. The only team who could play this card is Spurs, but Liverpool got into bed with City and United in terms of trying to buy the league but ultimately failed. Turning around after the fact and trying to make themselves out as socialist paupers is ridiculous.
