ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

If this fella actually took rest days in training seriously, they'd be fine.

An excellent season for them last year, combined with no summer off for their best player and back to the their high pressing game in two games a week = an extremely tired side.

Run out of steam in their title challenge by the end of January.

Exactly, mate. Klopp is all too self-aware that with his style of play, his players are running the risk of burnout by the new year. The great majority of his squad were involved in the World Cup of course, and Salah still probably doesn't know what planet he's on after being assaulted by Ramos, that horrid Spanish super-villan.

Chelsea, Arsenal and City look a huge threat to the title they won 3 games into the start of the season.

Goals are drying up, midfield is unsettled and big money signing haven't stepped up.

Looking at the Champions League, 3rd with away games to PSG and Red Star. I can see them getting 3rd and drop into the Europa.

This break has come at the right time for them because they have halted their dip but their next 5 games:
Huddersfield (H)
Red Star (H)
Cardiff (H)
Arsenal (A)
Red Star (A)

Could be a banana skin in there but I think Arsenal is a huge game.

Huddersfield is away - not that they'll struggle against Baby Klopp's team. Surely they will break down the 11 man Cardiff defence as well and then the (Alternative) Premier League will be back on. Maybe Klopp's problem is that he fears resting his Big 3 (Gok, Saddo, Salad) and they don't win.

Match of the day were questioning last night whether arsenal could push into the top 4... they concluded that they didn’t think they were good enough this season....arsenal who are playing some great football and taking teams apart

What's different between Liverpools 6 win run and failure to beat Chelsea and City and arsenal's

... 6 win run and failure to beat Chelsea and City?

At least arsenal should have beat chelsea.

They've seriously struggled to create chances these last two games. They haven't been great going forward since the Spurs game in truth.

Today was a truly drab affair. One of the many reasons I hope a European Super League concept never happens is top notch teams tend to be scared of each other's quality and play tight games to avoid getting scored on instead of opening it up and trying to outscore the opposition. I still hope City and Chelsea don't do that when they play because those games could be fantastic.

Klopp set up really defensively yesterday, I think he was playing for a draw hoping to stay in tact until jan and then ask for the owners to bail him out by convincing the owners only another £100m will see them win the league.

He stockpiled that midfield yesterday with three defensive midfielders whilst City had two attacking midfielders in their's.

So what's GOT concensus on them now then?

A lot of reds I know are relieved that they've gotten through their recent run of fixtures relatively unscathed (CL aside) and are still joint top with Chelsea & City despite them being 'nowhere near their best'. They still hold hope that the front 4 will start 'clicking' again at some point, namely Salah.

Personally I can see them going on another good run after the international break. They'll be buoyed by the fact that they're still right in the middle of the 'title race' and I do still see them being there or there abouts around the top come April.

Their Champions League form could be pivotal here though. Based on the opening two games I think it'll be a very tight group - that PSG match in Paris is going to be massive for them and there's been murmurings that some of the players are 'tired' already..

Oh Davek! I'm filling up here at such exemplary behaviour by the good people of Anfield. It makes you proud to be associated with the city the way they can just let a coach full of people drive into and out of the area without pelting it with stones, bottles and flares.
There'll be a lot of back patting down at Canning Place HQ in the morning.
They'll draw the conclusion today that City had the lion's share of the game ONLY because they didn't try and kill them on the way in.

Expect carnage next time.
