ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

What they don't seem to grasp is, this level of expectation and falsification puts their players under undue pressure which has negative results. I remember Corbyn once saying "it's not me they are afraid of it's you" to his members and the opposite is true here. Most of their fanbase are a massive drain on the club.

If you look at what Emery is doing at Arsenal, going under the radar, not being spoken about and ultimately looking like he might over achieve is probably what Klopp would like to emulate. That was not far off the formula at Dortmund. Instead he's got a fanbase and media lackeys continually telling everyone they are better than a team who finished over 20 points higher than them last season. I almost feel sorry for him a bit as he doesn't and as a club they don't seem to thrive under the pressure of being a front runner.

They really are their own worst enemy. So for any lurkers, never change. You are a critical reason as to why your club hasn't won a league for 28 years. The anomaly of how a club who has spent billions of players and not managed to win it is explained by your behaviour.

THIS

I was watching the RS Huddersfield wit one of my best mates, an RS. He totally lost it when he realised they were lucky not win that game and I pointed out that they are bang average and will win nothing again (he was giving it large about being top if the league in August and it was their year"). It's nuts, they go into every season with this expectancy only to turn into utter t1ts when it all unfolds.

It's something I've pointed out myself a few times mate. The pyro and banner 'show of strength' they made at all the crucial home games toward the season when Rodgers near won it for them spooked the Liverpool players. They were rolling along very nicely and then the Manson Family turn out in their droves with their second rate Ultra Tifosi and frighten the life out of them. Same in the run up to Kiev...had their players taking to the pitch that night petrified of the daunting task their fans created for them: they were there to watch "over the hill" Madrid fall to Klopp's young guns. As soon as they took to the field to warm up that night I could see how frightened they were and I knew straight away they'd be walloped. They were like rabbits caught in headlights - they needed to have the mindset and to see themselves as the outsiders looking to pull off a sesational victory against the odds to have a decent chance there that night but their loony fans took that away from them and they folded like a house of cards.

Let the Kopites talk about their title challenge against City this season. Their players will crumble again under the weight as they see Chelsea, Spurs and possibly Arsenal all leave Liverpool behind.

They never learn, because maniacs dont.

That final will be the one that got away. That Madrid team was badly on the slide, look at this season. A mixture of an idiot fanbase and a manager who bottles it threw away a game they should have won.

I think this 'winning mentality' is a finely balanced thing. Rabid fans could certainly terrify a team, although to be honest is there another fan base that we could even compare them to in terms of detached from reality expectations?

But I do think that failure at the title run with Captain Sky Advert at the helm and the media so far up their arses they could tell them their hat size has wrecked them. They got lucky last year with the purplest patch in the history of strikers and a jammy run at European glory, then got shown up for the pretenders they are. They are starting to lack a core group of players that give sustained identity, and the foundation of local match going support. Price you pay for selling yourself as a global brand rather than a bloody football club I suppose. And that's all fine and dandy when you are winning stuff year in-year out, no-one gives a fig but if they crack and the wheels come off it'll be so much harder for them as a team, a club and a fanbase to come to terms with it because of the ridiculous demands they've levelled at themselves.

I'm not saying it's definitely going to happen, but if they fall, they will fall 'kin hard because it's not within them on the whole to contemplate that it's even possible.

The thing is that banner and pyro was just self serving grandstanding. They didn't especially think it would help the team they just wanted the praise if the team won the league. '12th man' 'dat pashun' 'couldn't have done it without them' etc.

They were the reason the team bottled it so gloriously.

They were still miles better than Liverpool though. I had no fear whatsoever that Liverpool were capapble of downing a team like Madrid.

I wouldn't for a second write them off this season in Europe or Spain either. The players they have are thoroughbreds. They just need to ditch the manager.

It's huge stakes for Liverpool this season. If they dont win anything Klopp will be on the skids and probably out; Mane and Salah will be off; the sense that they have to build yet again will be too much for even their loyal media to keep the torch burning as bright for them. And I think that's the likeliest of outcomes. I dont see them winning any trophy and I dont even see them chasing City hard or even ending up RU this season.

The truth of the matter is that they've regressed. Take no notice of the table. Anyone watching them can see they aren't the team they were in the second half of last season. They're timid and pretty clueless. Top 4 is the very best they can achieve, IMO.

Oh they do love the media patronising them. It's just as important as actually winning things.
