That’s the possible downfall, they rely heavily on 4 players to provide goals. Salah, Mane or Firminho pick up and injury and abar 15 goals or assists disappear over night

They’re a good side, they may come close or they may win it. But this “luck” shout ain’t got nowt to do with it
I disagree.

What would you call that utter 'kin ballbag handing them a derby win in the last seconds...or Mahrez taking the ball for a pen he never usually gets to take and allowing them off with a draw?

Those two extremely fortunate things dont happen they take three points off Liverpool and probably more as they would have had momentum broken by either of those two results.

I cant think of similar get out of jail cards for City.

They have gotten lucky, no question. They have to retain that outrafeous luck all season to topple City though.

Will it be tight? Yes. Can they win it? Yes. Will they win it in all likelihood? No.

Unfortunately in those years teams were taking advantage of Liverpool's flaws. This year they're being beaten in the tunnel. I think it was Troy Deeney who said he hates playing against van Dijk before the game. What kind of a comment is that ffs? Completely wrong mindset.
I agree, its different this year. They have competition this time. In 08-09 And 13-14 they cost themselves the title in a one horse race. This year Man City are on the scene and they will be just as good as Liverpool over the course of the season. Liverpool WILL 100% drop points at some point. I can see the RS going undefeated all season yet still not winning the league because of dropping points in draws the longer the season goes on. Man City will be there to pick up the pieces.

Newcastle will roll over like the dog for them but Arsenal is a BIG test because they will be focusing on City the game after.

By the time they face City, they could be even on points.

I think this is a key half-way point statistic to remember when City draw almost level on points later today: the fact that though Liverpool's defence is much improved and getting them points, they are still facing more shots per game than City.

Over the course of another 20 games those extra shots on goal faced by Liverpool will tell.

shots .webp

What anout the time they bombarded the Goodison pitch with rolled up socks the time of Destination Kirkby?

On account of Sock Robbers is a pejorative term for Kirkbyites allegedly stealing clothes off’ve washing lines.

And the irony is there must have been plenty ftom Kirkby among there contingent that night.
Is there a Kirkby in Norway too? I never knew that

Wouldn’t say that was a downfall, better that than relying on only one player? They are reliant on Salah, less so the other 2, Shaqiri is capable of covering them 2. Saying that, every team, no matter who, are obviously reliant on their best players. Barca and Messi, Madrid when they had Ronaldo etc etc, take Aguero out of City they’ll lose ‘abar’ (Uber scouse) 15 goals, but they’ll find other ways, whether that be by being tighter or someone else coming in. That’s how these players become World Class, by performing consistently at the highest level. I’d love to us to have the problem of relying on a player or 2. Never really understood the ‘one man team’ tag either, no matter who it applies to, Kane and Spurs, brilliant player and he’s theirs, the RS and Suarez. Chelsea and Hazard, Palace and Zaha, etc etc. Hardly a surprise that a team relies on their best player. Every team in the World does.

They are organised and harder to beat this year, Gomez and Trent to come back aswell as Chamberlian who would improve them again. It will be close, they are top on merit it isn’t luck you don’t get to Christmas unbeaten an concede only 7 goals in the league, sadly they’ve addressed their issues in the GK department and have a spine that has clicked. City vs RS will be some game.

I dont like Mahrez in that team. Starting that is. He should be like their Shaqiri - coming off the bench. He tends to slow the passing machine down and put it out of gear at crucial moments in build up.

Indeed.

He is played wide right but every time he gets tge ball out there he kills momentum by cutting back on to his left foot.

It must be a Pep tactic of choice, playing left footers out rside right because Bernardo Silva does the same thing when he is out there.

I think they will trounce Arsenal the way they have a couple of times at home this past few years.

If they are still four points clear after the City game then I feel the mourning can begin :(

Hopefully he gets squeezed out of his starting place now by KDB's return.

It wont be like that after the City game, and even if it was I'd still expect a team that's failed to win the title for 30 years to suffer a couple of wobbles on the run in...as they did four years ago.
