ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Wolves had about 5 glorious opportunities yesterday. He's possibly the most overrated player of all time.

Liverpool were somewhat flattered by the score line (again). I'm not even slightly worried. Arsenal will beat them and city will muller them.
I mean I would kill for us to bring in a single player who could improve us as much as he has them but ok.

I agree though, come the end of the season they won’t touch City

I disagree.

What would you call that utter 'kin ballbag handing them a derby win in the last seconds...or Mahrez taking the ball for a pen he never usually gets to take and allowing them off with a draw?

Those two extremely fortunate things dont happen they take three points off Liverpool and probably more as they would have had momentum broken by either of those two results.

I cant think of similar get out of jail cards for City.

They have gotten lucky, no question. They have to retain that outrafeous luck all season to topple City though.

Will it be tight? Yes. Can they win it? Yes. Will they win it in all likelihood? No.

City get blatant handball goals given against them instead.

It wont be like that after the City game, and even if it was I'd still expect a team that's failed to win the title for 30 years to suffer a couple of wobbles on the run in...as they did four years ago.

If I am honest with you Dave, I see this current incarnation of the Devil’s Own XI as being a much different proposition to the Brent/Slippy dream team of bottlers :(

And I couldn’t see City giving them a four point start with the season half gone.

You touched on it earlier.....if the RS do win the title then they should mint two extra medals and give them to Mahrez and Pickford.

Those boys have really given them momentum.

I see the dangers with them (which is why I was saying we should be looking for them to qualify from their CL group, which they thankfully did). They're on a roll.

However, I dont see this team blowing too may teams away by HT as they did under Rodgers in 2013/14 and giving the opposition no chance of grabbing a share of the points. I see a lot of games they win by a late goal to add to a breakthrough one they achieve and I see a lot of chances that opponents squander. In the Rodgers' near miss season you'd simply watch the first half and forget it, because they were out of sight. No one can say that of this Liverpool team. And they simply cant go on virtually scraping wins for another 20 games.

The evidence is there to see where it'll go for them when it does go.

The problem with that Dave is that all the top teams grind out results, they're the ones that win you the league. It's not the 4-0s at home to the Fulhams of this world but exactly the result they ground out last night. That's why I'm worried, cause they keep doing it.

Jordan tiny hands was an absolute Ted for that, but it still wouldn’t have handed them a defeat.

I haven’t seen enough of city to see if they get luck, but I’m pretty sure they will. Every team does, we had the palace penalty save, Walcotts offside touch the other week and other things

IMO I think the luck thing is massively overplayed in here; I’m sure other teams fans say the same of their rivals

They’re a good team, but they should hit a bad patch once tiredness and injuries set in

Nah the deffo get more luck than anyone else, we should start a new thread to catalogue all these incidents, it will run to 1000s of pages in no time.

The bastards have finally nailed it really, haven't they? The same front 3 as last season with an absolute rock of a defence now.. and playing absolutely full of confidence.

Hate to stay it but I think Klopp has finally got it together..

However, they leave themselves continually open to a stubborn opponent, and that cant continue to happen for them.

To avoid that, theyld have to tear up their play book for the season and adopt a more cavalier approach against "smaller" clubs to put them away before the hour mark (latest) each game...and I dont see Klopp doing that.

Their margin of error is small as I see it.

Come on guys its December and if City win they are one point clear with a trip to city fast approaching -
if nothing changes come Easter we can do the histrionics thing then.

Remember Newcastle 13 points clear in 1996 - Kevin Keegan does that's for sure.....
