ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

I'm saying IF it happens mate.

This is as big a crisis in that respect as there's been. I'm looking at who they have a very good lead over and not liking what I see. Hopefully they get a spanner in the works in the next game or two and it's game on again.
Yeah I know, it wasn't aimed at you specifically. I just quoted your post which pointed out the horrors of what it would be like IF it happens. I am seeing plenty on here who are talking like it's a done deal though.

I would place the odds at more than 50% in their favour now. The way it could be avoided is if the next two games brings them a loss and both Spurs and City eat into that lead of theirs....then see how they handle it.

The day after they beat Manchester City in 2014 there was an hour long unplanned special on Five Live with Nicky Campbell of all people letting it take over his non footballing show. There is a journalistic clamour for them to win it heightened by the back story of having not won it for so long. Back then it was exacerbated by being 25 years after Hillsborough (the link to which was made repeatedly as if it would be fate) but in general it’s because they were/are one of the recognised ‘giants’ of the game over here, of which there are only truly two due to both having a period of decades long dominance.

You can’t begrudge them their place at the top of the League. City have well and truly screwed us all.

Still a hell of a lot of football to be played and they have been within a gnats wang of winning it and missing out not so long ago. All it takes is an iffy run of a couple of draws and/or a loss for that gap to disappear.

Starting to think Spurs are a bit of a dark horse for it this year

I'm coming round to thinking that the prospect of RS fan behaviour would be far worse than their team actually winning the PL.

Granted we would have both but there's not much we can do about the perennial Kopite Behaviour Rash.

They’re in a great position but how many times have we seen things change over the years.
One bad result, one bit of bad luck, one injury to a key player, one mistake. Mentally they have the upper hand now, it could well and truly implode with any of the aforementioned.
The weight of expectation hangs heavy.

Hopefully we’ll soon start to see far more of this type of behaviour from those odd-ball fans of theirs. That, and the famous ‘coach welcomings’ did for them in 2014. Their own fans cranked the pressure up that much that the players and manager just couldn’t handle it.

I’ll give it until February then they’ll be recreating this sort of behaviour - ‘12 cup finals to go’ etc. Hopefully history repeats itself

Just read on Sky Sports that his (Salah) reaction to the incident didn't meet the threshold. Meaning because he dived but didn't scream and shout for a penalty and the ref gave it anyway - puts the onus on the referee's decision to award it and not Salah's decision to dive.
Oumar didn't appeal for a penalty either, the referee just gave it.

My only concern is City have given themselves too much to do.

To lose 2 on the bounce to Crystal Palace and Leicester is not what champions do.

I honestly wouldn't be suprised if Saints or the Kopites themselves beat them over the next 2 games with it then being a slug out between Kopites and Spurs and we all know Spurs are bottlers.

People just have to accept they have one hand on the title, its a Leicester style title win and as I said before I wouldn't be shocked if they win it by a good 6+ points but then revert to type like Leicester did next season and finish 4/5th.
