ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

https://www.pressgazette.co.uk/reac...ed-over-column-criticising-liverpool-fc-fans/

This is why they get away with what they do.
People in the media are scared to death to criticise them in any way. If they do, you lose your job and your career is over.

This is what he wrote:

Mafham’s article, which had one paragraph removed before being taken down altogether on the day of publication, included the line: “Why does trouble seem to follow them (Liverpool fans) like bees round a honey pot?”

Urging LFC to “recognise it has a big problem”, Mafham wrote: “It’s not the players who produced that performance who I have an issue with, it’s some of the people who ‘follow’ them that frighten the living daylights out of me.

“You would have thought the deaths of 39 Italians at the European Cup final Liverpool lost to Juventus in 1985 – plus the five year ban on English clubs that consequently came after that – would have had a sobering effect.

“You would have thought the horrors at Hillsborough and 96 more deaths that followed only four years later would have made everyone more aware of their responsibilities to each other.

“Those two tragedies, in which the central figures were sadly mostly from Liverpool, are arguably football’s most painful Achilles and hopefully will never happen again.”

The article was seen by Liverpool Echo head of sport David Prentice, who wrote a response describing Mafham’s article as “vile, presumptuous and repugnant”.

Mafham said he had been forced to go to the police over fears for his safety after receiving “enormous abuse” on Twitter from LFC fans, including his address being posted in a practice known as doxxing.

Good on him for challenging the Sunday Express over his sacking , it took some guts given the abuse /threats received from the 'delightful ' RS vermin fanbase .
He spoke the truth and they can't deal with truth .....totally blinkered !

I’d love for them to point out where exactly in that article he’s wrong?

He’s further proved his point about their fans with the threats, abuse and doxxing he’s received afterwards. Same group of animals were sending threats and doxxing an innocent 17 year old kid the other week. Vile animals.

Reading comments on twitter and they're on full defensive mode.

'No evidence a red has done it' cropped up plenty of times. Already passing the blame elsewhere as usual.

Absolute scummy lot from top to bottom.

It just shows the mentality when I get told we're making a mountain out of a molehill over the flare.

Suspended for "gross misconduct". Just about sums it up. Unbelievable.

They hold nothing sacred. And they dont value human life.

The likes of Prentice jumping in and protecting them underlines why there remains a boycott of the E*h* by Evertonians.

Contract is in the post but you may want to read the small print .

1 a) You must arrange your own insurance , management will accept no responsibility for any injuries sustained .

b) You must buy and use the recommended transport at all times , not just in the L4 area but worldwide.
