For some reason I was sent by email a James Pearce piece in the Athletic (not reproduced here, btw, just the gist of it and the pathetic punchline) regarding why Liverpool's title win is "the best" in the PL history:

So, no Invincibles, no Centurions, but the best PL team of all time because...well...erm...'consecutive wins' and...erm...because he says so.

Absolutely rattled.

I'm almost invariably working with City and United fans, and when talking about football, I always use the term asterisk for this part of the season. They all pick up on it and start using it without any explanation. They know this season means nowt. I've used it with a couple of the lads from down south who support London clubs and they do the same.

It's honest work.
