ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

To follow up a comment I made on the master.

People go on about Messi (and rightly so), but Xavi was the player I most enjoyed watching at Barca. Those 360 degree turns, rarely losing the ball, and always seeming to make the right decision. This fella isn’t Xavi, nobody is Xavi, but in terms of class he’s the closest thing to him playing the sport today.

He’s a RS, and that’s annoying, but appreciating class is easy for anyone who puts the love of the sport above blinkered rivalry.

Three signings so far. Thiago, James, and now Bale, its great for the league to have such quality in it.

He’s the Spanish Joe Allan although, his stats in in terms of assists and goals are worst than Joe’s. Which takes some doing considering the players he’s been supplying.

If you put me in centre midfield for Bayern, feeding Lewandowski, Muller etc I’d be getting at least the same numbers he’s produced. My ball retention digits would be similar as well when the opposition don’t even want to try and take it off me and are happy to see me pass it sideways and backwards.

Massively overrated by the RS propaganda machine, he’ll end up being bang average like the last German based centre midfielder they gave a similar fanfare to.

Meh!

Meh!

It's going to turn into the Paul Scholes argument.

Never watch them, but after that sending off knew it was a forgone conclusion so watched the second half. The only team that can stop them retaining the title is themselves.

One ‘weakness’ I always thought was the lack of a craftsman in midfield. They have that now. There ain’t a better central midfielder on the planet. Xavi is the greatest I have ever seen, and it’s clear as day as a youngster this fella has developed alongside him.

I appreciate class regardless of who they play for. I applauded Son when I was at Goodison the season before last when he was sensational. As a Celtic fan I also loved that Rangers team of 97-98 with Laudrup, Negri, Albertz and co (being at an Irish Catholic school I’d never have disclosed it but I preferred watching them, but glad Celtic won the league).

I won’t be watching them unless it’s forgone conclusions like today. At least when I do I can appreciate the master in midfield.

LOL

Not even remotely close. I'm assuming you think VVD is the best centre half in the world?

Fancy creaming your kecks cos of a stat on Twitter that you wouldn't have noticed when watching the game. He passed sideways and gave a peno away against 10 men. But he's the second coming now

Opta is ran by Kopites. They made up that stat about VVD not being dribbled past in a millennium...even though their description of a successful dribble is nothing like any one else's understanding of the term.

He would've stayed at Bayern if he was that good.

It’s because we have started well and James has been getting high praise. They can’t bare being left out. They have to directly compare and fluff up anything Thiago does now. As you say a meaningless stat.

They were all very complimentary, patting his back on the way out. They couldn’t believe the money they got for a nothing player.

TBF they didn’t half miss him in their first game.

This never gets answered to me. He was at Bayern for 7 years, they got nowhere in Europe really (relatively speaking). At times they got humiliated. Then a new coach, lots of new players etc and they win the CL. Yet it's the guy who's been a main stay for the years previously who's the reason why. Like he's single handedly won it.

Bayern were happy to let him go. He's good, but let that sink in.
