ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

5 of the 8 articles on my bbc app were about the rs this morning, five. Norwich got a mention in passing. It's as though no other club exists at times.

My mates a Havant and Waterlooville fan. He says what do you expect, if you go onto the H&W website all the news is about H&W.
Yes. Both BBC and Sky on full RS love-in this morning.

You can tell that the football is back.

I'll be honest the description of that sounds like an Achilles rupture to me. I did mine and looked behind me because I was sure someone had booted me in the leg.

That's exactly what I thought when l heard his description of what happened. The Achilles put Claudio Bravo out for a whole season, so 8-12 months sounds right if that's what it is. Pure speculation so we'll wait and see. Is the fact he walked off (albeit assisted) more indicative of a muscle tear than an Achilles rupture? I'd have thought he'd have been unable to walk immediately after a rupture?

Oirigi still doing some stuff for the rs maybe there's some redemption for one of our deadwood

The more this persists, the more universally despised they are. Its nauseating but there is that upside.

Apart from Joe Gomez's injury last season, they rode their luck and then some with injuries. They wont repeat the trick this season.

Yes some yank on commentary was singing Klopps praises saying that Gomes had only been given 4 days rest off by the club in the close season. There's lots to praise Klopp for but thats just utter idiocy. As was bringing Mane on yesterday after 3-4 days training. He will be starting next week. He's nowhere near ready to start and there was no need for him to be involved yesterday.

Certain players he has had his impact upon, Lallana and Sturridge come to mind. I think you will see more of it this season (my prediction is Firmino will break down) and potentially this is what Alisson has suffered from. There will be the usual narrative of bad luck when it happens, but it's not bad luck, it's bad management, as it was at Dortmund when a squad was gutted by such an approach. Sarah should have been off last night on 55 and Mane rested the entire game.

I'll await to see what the Alisson injury is, it looked innocuous but it would come as no surprise to anyone if he was carrying an injury but was pushed through the pain barrier by Mr against modern football (so against medical advise on players). If such things are true, you can't bemoan luck, it's just utter stupidity.

The only thing I'd add re Alisson, is if he has done his achilles that is potentially a horrendous injury to do for a goalkeeper. All your power to spring for dives, crosses and coming off your line are impacted upon. Like Yakubu he will not be the same again if there's an injury to that.

City playing catch up again by playing second.

I know it's been said before, but not having the champions kicking off the season stinks. Disrespectful to arguably the best side the premier league has seen.

Losing Alisson potentially ruins the Klopp quick start to the season. Adrian is ok but with the exception of Dirgel the others cope with change like Bambi on ice. There's always next year...

Alisson was their best player last season. For all of the VVD hype (I read that idiot Gutman making out he was the greatest player ever) Alisson made a much better difference. If you look at the shots conceded to goals ratio, they went from about 1.5-1 under Mignolet to about 4-1 under Alisson (anything above 3-1 is superb). The number of shots conceded improved moderately but no great improvement there. You can put most of their defensive improvement down to Alisson who is absolutely world class.

It pains me to say it as well, as I would love to put snarky posts up about how brilliant Emerson is and how he should be his country's number 1, but you can't do it with Alisson, the guy's unreal.

If he's out for a period of time, short of putting Oblak in goal they have an issue.
