Look, the stade de France has held dozens of big games, football and rugby without any unsavoury incidents. grand slam rugby deciders Cup finals, internationals and so on.

Just heard from a red in a WhatsApp group. He was in Paris and had his ticket nicked from his pocket, ended up watching the game in a pub on his own. None of this pundits have investigated why the French Police felt the need to have to shut the turnstiles

Seems like something must have occurred for them to have to lock down the stadium

Fans were illegally jumping in so they shut up shop. Clearly did their research based on Hillsborough.

Police and security getting lambasted, but it sounds like they took the correct and necessary protocols to prevent another crush.

Talking a more objective view. Lots of more neutral journos are talking about the disorganisation and trouble with the stadium shutting many entry gates, which appears to have caused build ups and backlogs.

Think there’s questions to be answered about whether the stadium management have made serious mistakes here.

Key questions are why they closed these gates, and seemed to funnel RS fans through a narrow entry point, and why this didn’t happen with Madrid.

But also tempting to think that if they’d won that game, this wouldn’t be the main topic of conversation today.
