ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

They thought they were taking the mantle as the best team of all time. Better than United’s treble team, better than this City team, no other team would ever be able to match it, and they had all already banked it, they just thought it would all fall their way, that Stevie would deliver it for them and then they’d not only expunge the demons of 2018 but also beat the ex Everton manager in the CL final to boot.

They were utterly convinced it was going to happen. Then when it didn’t a lifetime of bragging was taken away from them.
yes, well noted: their braggadocio has been replaced by an emptiness, a vacuum. Fate has smote them a debilitating blow.

Excellent stuff!!

Not sure where they got their confidence on this particular point, the man has been wellying them his entire managerial career

All their ex players were saying that they’d beat them comfortably and that Madrid had somehow fluked their way past all of PSG Chelsea and City. A lot of them genuinely believed it would be two or three nil in the first half.

Good to see the daily heil still supporting those innocent loveable reds, saying more bother at the stadt de France at the nations league game on Friday so how can it be liberpewls fault?! Not seen this reported anywhere else however?

Not seeing anyone climbing the fences, getting mugged or pepper sprayed on the vid on the article though - strange that isn’t it?

I have said all along, there were issues with the policing and handling on the night, that absolutely needs addressing, but I would like to see the same accountability on the rs side of the 12 foot fence

Went back to work after a week off today, one rs who went over was honest enough to say that he saw a few reds breaking in and climbing the fences but it was because they were frustrated at being held in queues for ages, and there were loads of French Algerian/Somalians lads doing it so some of the rs just copied them them….I was speechless tbh.

Also he was honest enough to say there were way too many rs trying to get in - no question there were fake tickets about.

Amazing innit?
Scouser or the French + immigration.
For the daily Mail that would have been a tough choice

That's what cults do: they have cast iron unshakeable belief that the rapture will come...against all rational expectations.

Of course, we know their fans will always think along those lines. The big difference these days though is that the cult's membership extends beyond the fanbase and into large swathes of the football media. What we're seeing now in the papers especially is fury that the rapture never arrived, and so they're going after UEFA, the French Government and ghetto communities around the St Denis district the stadium stands in.

The football commentariat in the MSM have made a complete and utter show of themselves over this. There's no turning back from that. They are now all in on the cult's journey.

And people wonder why football authorities and officials act with unashamed bias. The implications of this are far-reaching.

I can see their cards being marked by UEFA as far as the Champions League goes but also fully expect a doubling-down in their favour for the domestic competitions. Getting a point at Anfield, let alone all three, is going to become even more impossible than it is already.

There will have to be some payback for the travesty of last season that the quad didn’t happen for them. I fully expect another ridiculous season of refereeing at Anfield to occur. Last season was an utter disgrace at times, especially in the games v City and Chelsea.

They’ll have seen how much interest was generated from the hoardes or cult followers around the world by the prospect of a quadruple and seeing as United won’t be doing it any time soon resurrecting another attempt for Liverpool is their best way to sell clicks. Hopefully they’ve annoyed enough people at Uefa that they’ll say no to the cash of having Liverpool on the final due to the problems they cause and just arrange an orderly early exit for them.

IMO they are gone for another year or so as serious contenders for the big trophies. This season was optimum for them to do that.

Their attack is in a period of rebuild if Mane leaves as expected. City are going to get stronger and they'll recognise that and plan accordingly.

The MSM will have a decision to make: continue down this road of backing Liverpool to the hilt or realise that they'll look a busted flush in the eyes of the majority of football fans in this country and ease away from Liverpool. They know in any case that social media makes them redundant for increassing swathes of football fans. Their choice...and their editors choice too.

I think the players waning isn't quite going to be an issue next season, what will cause them problem is player unrest, we've seen mane and salah with unsettled, there will be others behind the scenes too. Everyone gets on well in a winning dressing room, when it doesn't go quite as well some little niggles start to get bigger problems.

I think you underestimate the power of the dark side/kloppozade/jergens spezial hug-bumfinger technique mate.

Add to the farcical officiating and var calls that they will continue to be handed on a plate, as already mentioned by @Saint Domingo and they won’t be far off the same “fairytale” that they very nearly were awarded last season.
