It absolutely kills them that they didn’t do it. They knew it meant a lifetime of bragging and in their heads they’d already banked it. Their disappointment in the aftermath isn’t the natural disappointment of losing a CL final or being edged out of the league. It’s an absolute fury and anger that a card they thought they’d be able to play for ever isn’t available to them any more, in fact it remains open for any other team to claim ahead of them going forward. They’ve bigged it up so much, imagine if City or Chelsea pull it off in the near future. It absolutely kills them they didn’t make it happen.
