ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Alexander-Arnold is just a Poundland Gerrard.

The media agenda to push him is relentless. Happens every tournament as well despite England having three better right backs in Walker James and Trippier. The lad can’t defend. No other international team would indulge him at all for that very reason but in England he’s talked about by Sky as ‘the’ right back, whatever the f that means.

You’d think he’d invented the long pass or something. There’s been a million and one players who can hit a long pass just as well as he can in the prem but because they didn’t play full back for Liverpool they weren’t eulogised. A defender who can’t defend is the media’s pl poster boy, truly amazing.

He also lacks pace for a fullback, how many times you see him holding onto an opponent is amazing.

If Southgate plays him, he'll be found out when, as usual, he resorts to blatant shoulder charging and other card-able fouls given the higher tier of opponents. It wont be tolerated at international level the way he is seemingly allowed free rein for his club. Then again, theres a buffet of thugs in the RS menu who seemingly have immunity from red cards so hes graduated with flying colours

Southgate doesnt play him at full back unless its one of the lesser nations ie Malta away. He knows he would be found out against the better sides.

He was also far too big for his boots.

Peter Crouch has spoken on his podcast about how Gerrard and Carragher would basically decide if they'd like a player after one or two training sessions. He spoke about players being finished at Liverpool after their first training session. But he was speaking about it as a good thing; standards, and all that. But read between the lines, and what he was talking about was a captain who wasn't interested in his team mates well-being unless he deemed them good enough.

His attitude to new signings was never 'I'm the skipper, I'll do everything I can to help this new player settle in.'

Basically, during that period, if you weren't of the Alonso, Torres, Suarez ilk, and didn't show it almost immediately in training, then you would be treated like you didn't belong.

No surprise they've been a much better team since he hung his boots up. His 'all about me' attitude held them back for years.
I've always felt that Gerrard staying did more harm to Liverpool, than if he'd left, didn't know about Crouches comments but it makes sense. He quite clearly didn't listen to Benitez in games and just wanted the plaudits for himself.

Massively Overhyped but have you seen the state of Trippier and James lately. They’re just as bad if not worse

The utter BS from that weird bluffer Garth Crooks...

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool): The ball from Alexander-Arnold that sent Mohamed Salah on his way to breaking Michael Owen's scoring tally was out of this world. Sat in the middle of the back four on this occasion, Alexander-Arnold hit a ball a quarterback playing for the Miami Dolphins would have struggled to make. The Liverpool defender made contact with the ball from well inside his own half and planted it over the head of a stretching Oleksandr Zinchenko and into the path of Salah, leaving the Arsenal full-back furiously backpedalling and exposed. Salah breezed past him and blasted the ball into the roof of the net. It is the best pass I have seen this season.

Crooks needs to be told that if a Dolphins QB had made a pass like that it'd have been incomplete by about 10 yards.

Salah had to scramble wth his little hairy legs to get that ball before it went out for a goal kick.
