ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I've seen Everton win a load of trophies.

We'll never go away as a top club. It's just a matter of time before trophy wins happen again.
I became a Blue the season after the 1962/3 title-winning season under Harry Catterick. The highs were: the '66 Cup Final; the 1969/70 league title, and the majority of Howard's first stint as manager, winning two titles, a European trophy and Wembley becoming our, and my, second home.

The lows were: Alex Young being sold; Jeff Astle's goal that lost us the 1968 Cup Final (in those days there was only one cup final, there was no need to use the F.A. prefix); going out of the European Cup in 1971 when losing the quarter final to Panathinaikos on away goals; most of the Walter Smith era and, biggest of all, the European ban that eventually broke up Howard's Everton.

We ought to, and probably would have, won at least one European Cup. It's no wonder I became bitter after the Heysell fallout.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah says he is "disappointed" by the club's failure to offer him a new contract - and looks more likely to leave than stay.

The 32-year-old, Liverpool's top scorer this season with 12 goals in all competitions, is out of contract at the end of the season.

BBC reporting today.

There's some fantastic achievements in there. 4 titles, a couple of FA Cup wins and a European trophy. Also a load of RU placings.

Outside of United, Arsenal, Chelsea, City, United, Liverpool no other club since the 60s have been as successful as Everton.

We should all remember that. We too easily knock ourselves for the present, but we are an enormous football institution and we will inevitably see trophies again. We've been close a couple of times since 95 and we'll take one eventually. Just have to get in the stadium and stay in the PL. Investors with enough cash to boost us back where we belong will come along.
