ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Sorry if already been posted but will you look at this

One premier league title and apparently his the best ever centre back !!!!!!

Forget those who won multiple titles at Man Utd, Arsenal or Chelsea or city

Bunch of self absorbed clowns

And right on cue comes the BBC News story about 'Tragedy Chanting' arrests at the Pit on Sunday. A grand total of nine, but don't let that get in the way of a nice victim enabling headline.

Such a pity how their news servers always seem to crash every time those mutants have a 'top bantz' get-together celebrating Munich, or demolish a coach. Darn shame... :coffee:

Amazing how they get offences made up just to suit them. You know damn well this offence was created to aid them in sweeping Hysel further under the carpet.

Can’t be right! As I’d heard he died a few years back.

I have to laugh when the media come out with stuff like this about them, they know they’ll be creaming themselves over the headline.
From what I’ve watched of van dijk over the years I would argue John Stones is up there with him. He’s miles away from the likes of Kompany or Vidic.
Terry and Ferdinand were in another realm altogether.

Repackaged from the Dyche thread, but I think it's even more applicable here:

Click bait.

That's what BBC have fallen to. VVD being one of the best CB in PL history is naturally a divisive topic.

The reality is, he's been a very solid and good CB for them. But the league is far weaker than the Ferdinand, Terry, Ridiculous days and a lot less competitive than the late 90s, where centre halves like Stam, Adams played.
It never gets factored in, and I never understand why?
Sides like... Luton, Burnley are never going there and attacking loads. So stats are just so exaggerated.

When Liverpool play decent sides in Europe, he's usually culpable for collapses.

Not saying he's not a good Centre Half, but short memories. Will not click the article, but no doubt it has reference to his ACL injury.

This bit made me laugh:

It led ex-Reds defender Jamie Carragher to declare on social media, external that Van Dijk is "the best centre-back we've ever seen in the Premier League".

"I always said it was John Terry before Van Dijk came along," he continued.

"All great defenders of the past had attackers who caused them problems, but who ever causes Van Dijk any?

"He's just played against [Real Madrid's Kylian] Mbappe and Haaland in the last four days and played them with such ease he could've played with a cigar.

"Please stop this silly debate about the best centre-back, it's not even close."

Last week they were queueing up to tell us that the young Irish full back had Mbappe in his pocket. Now it's big Virg.

Mental gymnastics from Carragher as usual.

Seem to recall just in the Derby last season he done his best to stay as far away from DCL as possible as he knew Dom had his cards marked so tried to pass the buck to Konate. It's all about self preservation.

He's not having to mark the likes of a Drogba, a Henry, Cole, Shearer, Van Nistleroy etc like the top defenders did. Nope, he has to mark the likes of Adam Armstrong, Chris Wood and as far as Haaland on Sunday, I've seen more movement from my bowels than what he served up as a front man.

The standard in quality is absolutely woeful compared to years ago.

Dear Carragher...
Lil' Bitch 1.webp

I wish Thierry Henry was there again next to him, to correct and shut him up like he's done in a couple of those Sky Sports pundit panel discussions.

I mean, imagine Virgil trying to defend against a centre forward like Henry in his prime?!? He'd be like:
