ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Anybody think that Stevie G (
I tend to agree

I almost welcome the Super League

The top six can bugger off and the rest of us can have football back

All the Champions League teams playing one another every week would soon get tiresome

I genuinely think it would fail eventually, with attendances and TV ratings dropping over time, whilst interest in the English League would be renewed amongst supporters as fresh teams would have a chance of winning things
Would,nt last long mate, back to sq1 in no time.

So apparently forcing players to isolate away from their families, playing games in empty stadiums, and taking medical staff away from the Coronavirus effort in case one of the players gets injured, is "honoring the integrity of the competition".

What a balloon that fella is.
Imagine they played in empty stadiums and when rs win the game to win the prem,
All their fans come pouring out of their pits

No mass gatherings, so it can’t happen

Todays no mark kopite advice. Integrity and tv rights are all "thommo" is concerned about obviously.

This will take upwards of 3 months to complete. Who is paying for these hotels? I mean, do these hotels exist, you know that can simultaneously keep any trace of the outbreak out, and also have training facilities as well. Do 92 of them exist, or do clubs outside of the PL not exist? (There's a clue, none of these hotels exist).

I am not even going to get started on the more perilous question of what you do with all the associated bodies that exist in conjunction with football but are essential to it's running.

At this stage there is no infastructure for this Super league either. I really hope that someone at LFC gets cocky and issue the threat publicly and they get booted out. It would be great to see the PL really make an example of someone. Salami those clubs that want to leave, and make an example of the bravest who want to shout the odds (which LFC seem to be).

There is no Super League currently. If they couldn't find another league they'd be bust within 12 months. They may end up being accepted into France or whatever. Either way, good riddance to bad rubbish.

The broader point is though, that the PL and English football is extremely resilient. If the top 6 leave now, another top 6 is created. In my lifetime I've seen Leeds, Newcastle, Arsenal, Blackburn etc all be one of the top teams. They all fall away and someone else steps in. We have a strong system in spite of the current top 6 not because of it.

I iken it to the wrestling situation in the 90's. The WWF had an ability to keep generating stars. WCW had to keep buying the best stars in. One of the businesses had a stable model and is still around today.

A European super league would flop. The teams who joined would lose their clubs. In Liverpools case it would be fantastic to see that club cease to exist.

Also medical staff to be pulled away from frontline services, or if a player gets injured is he rushed to the top of the queue to be seen? Or if one side has an outbreak of Covid 19 is it just tough luck?

Minefield, can't happen.

The homeless are staying in travel lodges currently. Maybe with their anfield road experience the rs will be able to assist turfing them out for the benefit of their corporation.

My worry is if this drags on into Autumn/Winter they may just wait till March 2021 and pick up where we left off. Big sticking point will be contracts.

That crossed my mind as well, but there would be little to tempt the other 19 clubs in that scenario surely, compared to voiding the whole thing. Only LFC would benefit and I doubt they, Sky/BT and the Premier League have that much clout if the rest decide enough is enough?
