"Well I've given you the figures that show we have spent the same amount of money as Liverpool both gross and net"
Really? No we haven't, does it make you feel a little better to say that? You added the figures up wrong and you admitted as such in your reply.
This is turning into a RS v Everton argument and it shouldn't be. Its about the amount of money we've spent in relation to clubs above us.
Of course, I may have it wrong, I’ve used transfermarkt.co.uk. Please tell me which site you used that says we’ve spent the same. If you add all them figures up on the RS row, it’s around the 180m you said, but in 3 of them years they actually made money, so your maths is wrong.
It’s getting boring now tbh can we get a new rival?
Like moths to a candle.Maybe the mods should take the financial discussion out of this thread, as there appears to be more than a little truth in it. If it stays here it'll just get drowned by the usual catcalling to nobody's benefit.
And this guy. The full set completeTranmere?
Not sure how you can state that we have spent, broadly speaking, In line with them. We have spent, net, 115m more than the RS, 80m more than Spurs, 60m more than Chelsea. In line with them? We have the 4th largest gross and net spend. No amount of dressing it up will alter that. You are dressing it up and then admitting that we have been extremely poor. Trying to dress it up to make it sound better isn’t doing you any favours. We’ve failed. Massively.
Let's be realistic about this, however. If Liverpool are doing it, then you can bet your boots near every other top club are at it too. Elite sport is an arms race and every club, athlete and team will be operating right on the edge of what is allowed and what isn't in the constant quest to improve conditioning and recovery. The rumours about which teams blood was in the Puerto bags bags back in 2006 were Barcelona, Real and Atletico. We know that Juve and Marseille were using EPO in the 90s.
Why would it only be Liverpool? Why not City, United, Chelsea (who were already criticized by WADA for the platelets thing) or even Everton.
I really believe British sport (by which I mean both codes of Rugby and Football) has some serious waking up to do about drugs in sport.
For Christ's sake... wouldnt you think theyd change their M.O. even slightly. (Notice I didnt say have the intelligence to change...) The pedantic forensic stats are another red flag.... oops.

Why are you so bothered mate? Is it your money? Are we running out of money? No.Believe me, I have no M.O. Pedantic forensic stats? For picking @catcherintherye for stating...........
“We haven't really spent that much though, relative to the sides above us. We have spent a reasonable amount of money, but were a side in a mess. It takes time.”
Apologies if you think I’m being pedantic but I’m finding fault with that statement. It’s glossed over by the majority of our fanbase and it’s a quite damning. For the money we’ve spent, we Should be better. We’re a decent side but for the money we’ve spent, we should be better than decent. Our ‘par’ if you like, is finishing 7th. We are the 4th highest spenders, gross AND net since Mosh came in. That’s all I’m saying. And I think most of us would agree that our transfer business hasn’t been great. Koeman, Walsh and Fat Sam. It can only improve though. But certain facts can’t be denied to gloss over how bad we’ve been. I’m sure Brands will get it right but some are even doubting him now. Just look at the Brands thread for evidence. At least we seem to have a semblance of order about what we’re doing now compared to then.
