ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

This is like pulling teeth.

All NHS and frontline workers have been left out to dry by the Tory murder cult, that's not even up for dispute, horrid specimens.

But it has nothing to do with the following statement :

"We know there is evidence of disproportionate mortality and morbidity amongst black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) people"

Thats The NHS suggesting that BAME people are more susceptible, NOT just the NHS workers, ALL OF THEM.

Nothing I have said is inaccurate.

That isn't the NHS saying that BAME people are more susceptible. That is the whole point of shielding vulnerable individuals. If the BAME population had a genetic susceptibility then we should have been shielded. There is absolutely no evidence for that.

The NHS have recently issued a risk assessment specifically aimed at BAME staff.

I think you’re misunderstanding. Having a higher rate of infection/mortality doesn’t automatically mean more susceptible. For example, these statistics are being taken nationwide, and nationwide there is a far lower average of minority people than in dense population centres like London. The difference in percentage of population could well be five or ten fold comparing say Cornwall and London.

Yes there are more people of minority backgrounds who are getting/dying relative to percentage of population. But no that doesn’t mean they are more susceptible. Living in a densly populated area means you’re more susceptible.

I’m bored of this, can we go back to slagging off the mutants from across the park now please?

This.

Let's have a look at the actual evidence.

From Public Health England.

An analysis of survival among confirmed COVID-19 cases and using more detailed ethnic groups, shows that after accounting for the effect of sex, age, deprivation and region, people of Bangladeshi ethnicity had around twice the risk of death than people of White British ethnicity. People of Chinese, Indian, Pakistani, Other Asian, Caribbean and Other Black ethnicity had between 10% and 50% higher risk of death when compared to White British.

So why are you mentioning black people when quite clearly it is people of Bangladeshi ethnicity who have by far the worst outcome. Is that because that doesn't back up your prejudice. Can't make outlandish statements about Bangladeshi's and the restart of the Premier league ?

It is backed up by evidence. I have just provided you with a quote from PHE.

If you must know I mentioned black because I've been talking a lot about Black Lives Matters so it kind of came off the tongue. You're right to say BAME is a far better way of looking at things.

I don't need to do anything re the Premier League. Prominent black footballers already have. Prominent BAME community groups are already stating to the government that their response and tbe response of institutions has been inadequate. BAME footballers have already echoed that about the PL. I believe them.

For saying that, supporters of certain clubs have taken to social media to wish death on them and their children.

Whatever battle you think you're winning here, you are really backing the wrong horse mate. BAME people are more at risk, and the PL have rightly been called out by BAME footballers for their shoddy, in truth none existent understanding of how the factors of race could have helped to have been minimised.

You're dying on the wrong hill here. Best just to pack it in and log off for the night I think. You seem to want a battle of wits, and if you do I'm sure you're much brighter than me, but you just wont make any sense making arguments that run against the scinlentiric evidence.

Why are you cherry-picking. I quite clearly based my entire argument on two points. Deprivation and exposure to COVID-19. Doctors quite clearly have a higher exposure to COVID-19 which leads to a higher viral load. Maybe as Evertonian's and socialists we would be better concentrating on the effects of austerity, social deprivation and above all the lack of PPE for front line workers.

But as socialists we can understanding fighting economists goals is not pitted against fighting for social justice and against systemic racism. Its not either/or. In fact arguing for one strengthens the other.

If we fund the NHS properly, then we would be in a better position to better tackle the racial inequalities in Covid 19. Denying they exist doesnt help anyone.

The evidence is very clear. The BAME community are far more at risk. A black professor (charged with investigating this) has noted this, but his report has been quashed to date.

Nobody is saying it is entirely dependent upon current income or job. They are factors too, but not the only ones.

So essentially we argue anything other than saying there is a racial divide that affects people from the BAME community to let football off the hook?

The mutants deserve criticism for peddling nonsense conspiracy theories, and attacking BAME footballers raising concerns.

Given the basis of your post I would say you are concentrating on Troy Deeney who I really respect. Someone who is a hugely influential BAME footballer.

He spoke to one of my colleagues Dr Jonathan Van-Tam and his misplaced fears were reassured. He now accepts his fears were misplaced and has returned to training. He has a child who was born prematurely and had breathing difficulties but has been reassured enough to return to training.

Troy as an elite BAME athlete has put this to bed so why are you still continuing it. Looking to score points.
