ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Yep, my missus said yesterday "do you think I can start celebrating yet?". I said yes, just like you could last week, the week before, the week before that and the month before that too.

Basically ensure you tell them it's been the most one sided, boring, rigged title race for years and it boils there piss ever so nicely.

This isn't one of those league title wins where they've been amazing like an Arsenal invincibles and you say "fair play, they've been outstanding". Neither has it been a season where you've gone toe to toe with a stellar rival like Man City and pipped them on the final day.

Nope, this title will show them about 25pts ahead of their nearest rivals Notts Forest and probably Bournemouth or Brighton in the CL places. This title will show the race was won by November. This title will show usual rivals such as Utd and City having their worst ever seasons for about the last 15-20 years.

This title will still show that they stillnneeded additional assistance from refs to help them get the job done by winning about 15 penalties and getting away with not getting players sent off week in week out.

Let them have their title win, I wouldn't even be arsed if they win the league cup or CL either.

No matter how arsed you are, don't ever show them how arsed you are because it's that what boils their piss more than anything.

Let's go to the Pit at the start of April and take 3 points off them
You saw in December how we got 2 comfortable draws against Chelsea and Arsenal under Dyche how poor league is. If you look at Chelsea side we played in FA cup final and how that side wasn't close to winning league. As long as you have a situation where 13 sides are just happy to be in league and are unwilling to shake things up, you end up with a boring competition. Add to that teams like Palace, Fulham, Bournemouth, Newcastle and Spurs who roll over for RS. Hardly surprising they're so far ahead.

EXACTLY Macca!

All things considered, this should be the unveiling of a new statue after this season:

I see a fair few reds saying this, and it’s a sign of no confidence in their own team. They are relying on these ridiculously corrupt decisions handing them the title on a plate. Without that and a Salah - they are nothing. Which is why they are so unsure.

Exactly mate. They can even stop with the blatantly obvious penalty decisions now.

The only team that was close to challenging them this season is Arsenal...
They're the emphatic definition of 'bottlers', as we're about to view in the next 90 minutes, them bottling it against a rubbish United side. 🤦‍♂️

It's because they've bottled it so many times and crumble in the league when they are top. However everyone else is so bad this season that even though they've looked bang average it's been enough.

This is what annoys me most. All those years Spurs were putting in top class performances at the Etihad then look like a club team whenever they play Liverpool. Bournemouth are doing the same now, brilliant before they played Liverpool, brilliant after, couldn’t hit a barn door against them. I don’t think Eddie Howe has ever beaten Liverpool and even lost at home with a good Newcastle side after being one up and against ten men.

I know Liverpool have had a good team in this time but so have City and Arsenal and you just don’t see these complete capitulations on a regular basis from teams in form against them.

Eddie did beat them as Bournemouth manager years ago, 3-2 or 4-3 it was when Ake played for Bournemouth

Think their complaint was (in that game) they had 63% possession and conceded 20 fouls versus 37% possession and conceding 9 fouls. So the team with less possession, having to make more tackles etc. gave up 9 fouls, while the team who had the ball more, thus having to make less tackles, gave up 20 fouls.

This bloke goes apeshit over a longer period (copy pasted his rant below link).

Dodgy Derby

In a Goodison derby, you are guaranteed that the home side will be fired up, aggressive, playing long-balls to big bastards, and roughing up the Reds. That’s their game-plan, year after year, under Sean Dyche and now the absolute master of the mediocre, David Moyes.

Indeed, Everton are possibly never more outplayed at home than by Liverpool (perhaps Man City’s underlying numbers are better at Goodison?), and yet the Foul Balance makes zero sense. Zero.

Liverpool dominate everything, by a country mile; and yet are penalised at an insane and illogical rate.

Last season ended with a Foul Balance of -7, but just before half-time, when Everton took the lead, the Foul Balance was -9, in that it was nine free-kicks to Everton, zero to Liverpool. (Earlier this season, Liverpool were into the second half at Crystal Palace with the foul count of 11 against, 0 for.)

This is game-management by a ref, allowing one team to play, kneecapping the other. This is controlling the traffic, as it were; stopping the team that wants rhythm, giving free-kicks to the team that wants them to launch it into the mixer. When David Moyes said last night that it was good that the ref let quite a lot go (as did the broadcasters), I’m not sure if he or they were aware of how Oliver let quite a lot go to suit Everton, and penalised Liverpool TWENTY times.

At Goodison since 2020, Liverpool possession has averaged 66.5% to Everton’s 33.5%, and Dominance (shots+corners) is 104 to the Reds, and 64 to Everton, or 62.5% higher for the visitors.

Yet Everton have received a staggering and scarcely comprehensible SIXTY free-kicks in the last four Goodison games, to Liverpool’s 30.

SIXTY!

Sixty free-kicks in just four games, while conceding only 30.

Everton’s average Foul Balance goes from a normal home figure of +0.6 to +7.5 whenever Liverpool are in town.
Foul balance  did I just read this or have I had a blow to the head

All I took away from that article is: Waaaaaa-Waaaaaa-Waaaaaa!

Mate, they're still banging on about that CL final were Sergio Ramos tackled Salah, and took him out like a lil' biatch!

How does that go again? Oh yes: 'You're always the victim, it's never your fault!'
