ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

the worst thing is, do footballers these days practice this? they surely do, they know how to dive in such ways to make it look appealing to a ref. I can spot it a mile off with the way they fall, but some chubby 40 year old who does it as their job can't spot it.

think this another one to add to the bale vs suarez debate as well.

bale was winning games like this with a 30 yard screamer, relying on his own ability to be good enough to beat the opposition. suarez has to resort to cheating because he's plain and simple, not as good.

I'm not a fan of his at all, but even he must get up in the morning, look at that and think..."what a fkn w@nker"

He probably thinks: "I'll have to get a bigger print of that, it looks fantastic so it does, right enough".

A complete and utter biff of a man.

Left foot says it all. No way his foot doesn't touch ground before his knee unless he intentionally swings to the side.

Peno for me.

He dives, he always dives, but stupid from the Keeper.

Guzan clearly pulled back. He brought his hands straight down to avoid contact. They are within the frame of his body and he didn't make contact.

I'm not sure in what universe that's a penalty mate.

No contact

It doesn't even matter if there's contact. Football is a contact sport. You can, for example, go shoulder to shoulder with an opposition player in the box without conceding a penalty kick. If you you've made contact with the player but haven't brought the player down, it's not a pen.

Edit... no pen. but it took a lot of looks, ref only gets one and gives benefit of the doubt to the attacking player as is correct according to the prem rules.
Rough as it was a dive, but I can only blame the player not the ref on that one.

On the other hand, when I think of the condition of Suarez's karma, I smile.

Sooner or later, this is going to bite him, and hard. Hopefully on the pitch, in the derby.

There's a straight red in his future over this. If not, the league is headed for disaster.

He keeps being encouraged by events like todays, and he'll inevitably go too far. It's not like this was the first or only dive he took in this match. He's getting out of control. The integrity of the game is at stake.

Do refs not go back and watch these replays and understand they're all be conned 85% of the time? At what point don't they start just assuming he's diving? Unless I see a bone showing through the skin, I'm going to assume he dived.
