ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

But in reality, we all know that when Everton fans call for Liverpool fans (a lot of whom weren't even around when Heysel happened) to apologise for the events at Heysel, they're not doing it from a sense of moral duty or consideration for the 39 dead, they're doing it to make Liverpool fans as uncomfortable as possible and are in a sense points scoring from the deaths of those people through taking such a moral high ground.

Stop trying to divorce the fans responsible for Heysel from your club; that is what you are trying to do here by playing with words. It is the responsiblity of the CLUB to apologise, not individual fans who weren't there.

i love the way you Liverpool fans have this victim attitude to everything,,, your club at the time, and for the next 20 odd years later refused to accept any responsibility for what happened choosing to blame everybody but themselves,,, so yes, i think I am entitled to take the moral high ground as I have never really supported a clun who covers things up for their own sad benefit so I feel it's my moral duty to shame your sad excuse for a ****house team and make them feel as uncomfortable as possibe at every given oppertunity.

Alright, so I assume you agree that any insults and jibes should be aimed at the club and the club only?

No I don't. As a supporter you associate yourself with club which should make the apology, so therefore should expect to take the flak. That doesn't mean that YOU personally are responsible for the disaster.

You can run that well rehearsed argument every time Heysel is mentioned, it's an interesting media technique to try to turn attention away from the basic issue.

But some of your fellow fans have blood on their hands and it took your club 20 years to force out an apology. You need to accept the stain this has placed upon Merseyside even though most of you don't live here.

From our fav forum

Can anyone get this to the club (via Twitter, via any of our players on twitter)? Needs to be given full exposure and Mr. Barclay must simply be banned from the club and any of its facilities (along with Winter and Olly the Wally).

This is why Kenny blanks the ****ing lot of them. He knows from experience the bigotry against this club has been deep set for years and will never change. What set us apart as a club and fan base was we never pandered to the ****ers.

Sky changed all that with disastrous consequences. Infighting, bickering and ****ing hand wringing about how we are badly done to by the press. Me, I've always revelled in it. It's become particularly vicious lately. Why? Doesn't take a rocket scientist does it? We're on our way back to the top with a manager and owners who have reinstilled belief in us.

Now that public opinion on Hillsborough is at last aligned with the awful truth, self-aggrandizing tossers like Barclay and his ilk (and by ilk I mean Ferguson-fellating, LFC-despising hacks who happily covered up United's players Heysel song on the pitch in Moscow '08 and Ronaldo's behaviour at the Munich anniversary), have thought "baah, right what else can we sling at these lot?". Cue the Heysel digs once again.

Thing is, he could have deflected that question easily citing mortgage/family or even ignored it completely. But the [Poor language removed] just couldn't help himself and in doing so revealed his vile character for the wider public to see. Let's hope his current (?) and any prospective employers were amongst them

Ha Ha Ha. These people are completely certifiable. They actually convince themselves shit like that happened.

Frightening to know they walk amongst us.

I can see where you are coming from here but tbh, for Evertonians it's more a responce to Liverpool's holier than thou attitude, to the fact they can never do any wrong. Its more of a 'ahem, arnt you forgetting something?'. No I don't believe a lot of our fans do it out of moral duty, but I don't believe we are trying to take a high ground either (that comes by default with the fact our fans are infinatly nicer than your foamers). Its a responce to the general day to day ****e that comes out of a kopites mouth.

I looked that up and that was first ran by Oliver Holt of the times. He isn't a Liverpool fan so is it frightening to know he walks amongst us?

if you had simply agreed at the start that the fans comment to Barclay,,, which started all of this f you remember,, was out of order, none of this discussion would have ever taken place,,,,, probably would have suited you not to mention heysel aye.

You're not getting it. Both comments were out of order, but my point was that it's wrong to praise Barclay.
