What an utter phoney he is.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed how a Liverpool fan's letter inspired this season's Premier League title bid. Speaking after his players were confirmed as runners-up to Manuel Pellegrini's side, the Liverpool manager reflected on how a letter written by a supporter named Ben served as motivation for his side's charge to the top.

"I read a letter to the players on the first day of the season from a supporter, who told us about getting into the top four and the pride he has in the club and not to just think about fourth, but think about winning," he told his post-match press conference.

"Probably at the time, the players and maybe the staff thought the letter was maybe a bit far-fetched, but I truly believed that we could progress. I read the same letter back again today, and all the words that went back into the players' minds were the same at the beginning of the season. I think now the word that has come is 'belief'. We now believe that we can be up here challenging and all the young players will be much better for that."

Wow, and the same man backed this guy...

You could have both, Toure scoring or Kompany lifting the trophy, whilst below them Gerrard's watching the title dissapear whilst lying down having his nap or whatever he was doing there.

Better still, every kopite will have to buy the DVD since its their best Premiership season ever, and will have to see that cover agin and again and again lol

Yeah, a split front cover with Toure and Kompany on the top panel, with GBH on the deck in the lower panel - making it look like they're standing on his box head.

Perfick.

Does crying with happiness count? shed a little tear after united at wembley 09 to be fair (possibly partly due to the fact i wasnt there and wished i was and lots and lots of beer)

I've wept tears of joy -that's not immaturity it's just a release of happiness. I've certainly cried AT a football match in recent times but not because of the result - but because my late brother's song "He Ain't Heavy" was playing - it was playing just after he died and he was autistic. I can't help it. I definitely remember tears of joy when we won the league in 1985 and I was 24.

Due to bad behaviour the Newcastle Thread on Rawk has been locked. Here are a few choice comments from those banner waving muppets.

Well they've had nothing else to sing about since 1927, so let them have have their moment of fun, it's just so ironic taking the piss out of a team not winning the league when the nearest they've been to success is a tour of our trophy cabinet. Smalltime club, [Poor language removed] manager, [Poor language removed] owner, [Poor language removed] fans.

To be fair we were saying something similar on our Newcastle thread but we weren't as snide and nasty with our digs.

Can someone lock this? I enjoy good natured piss-taking as much as anyone but this isn't good natured and I'd hate to see the decent set of Geordies (and Paul) leave here because of it.

There's some spiteful and petty bollux being posted in this thread - to what end folks? It's done gone and finished!

In the words of the immortal Fab 4 " Let it be".

What a set of poor language removed they truly are. Hopefully you sell all of your best players and give Pardew a new 8 year deal.

You'd think with the Sky cameras on the game, nothing to play for and a huge profile that they'd use the opportunity to protest against Pardew and Ashley. Instead just churned out your stereotypical Soccer AM/Stevie G songs.

I'll honestly [Poor language removed] delight in their collapse down the leagues. I hope Ashley gives the club to Joe Kinnear.

Shame they don't have the class of Sunderland to be honest.

spent the whole [Poor language removed] game singing about us. i hope mike ashley stays for years.

Cheering when it was announced a billionaire bankrolled team had won the league. Bunch of small time, delusional knobheads.

Some of the [Poor language removed] in this thread is a [Poor language removed] embarrassment.

Locked before we lose yet more decent posters.

What can i say horrible club with horrible supporters.I'd like to say more but this is a decent wholesome site. The Geordies are lovely people compared to that shower of poor language removed. At least on Grand Old Team we can hold a civil discussion about opposition fans and other clubs without resorting to bile and venom resulting in threads being locked.

It's hard feel sorry for a certain element with the way they were carrying on the last 2 months.Singing songs and waving flags out on the streets before games like muppets. No harm to see a few of them put back in their box they got far too cocky.:)
