Someone at RAWK has not unreasonably likened Stevie G's huddle to Keegan's meltdown (interms of inviting mockery) and got this response

Nonsense. Had they won the league Keegan's rant would still be Keegan losing his cool. It wasn't designed to rally the troops, the words had no great meaning behind them. It would be mocked less, but you'd still probably laugh when you saw it just in a different way. Another key difference is that Keegan was talking to camera, Stevie didn't know the camera was there and when asked after the game he said "none of your business" when they asked what he said.

These people are stealing our oxygen, we should be allowed to beat them up.

And what's this 'rally the troops' BS? They're professional athletes chasing the ultimate prize in English football, why would they need 'rallying'.

AND he didn't say 'none of your business' he said 'i think you know what i said' thus proving that he absolutely knew the cameras were there.

Arrghhhhhhhhhh!!!

i only saw it for the first time yesterday, he said it about 3 or 4 times to make sure the camera could get close enough to hear it.

"Beat them up"? Doesn't sound right..

From one of the comments:

"But Gerrard has never been particularly dirty, he’s not a play-actor, he’s not a serial diver, he’s not always in the ear of the ref, away from the pitch he doesn’t conduct himself in a manner that draws attention to himself and, most importantly, it’s not as if his club career has been one long parade of triumphs that has brought trophies and medals galore…so there’s no jealousy angle."

Where do you even start with that?
petrol bomb?

I'm sorry but the whole huddle thing was a set up for the media to grasp onto.

They huddle up ONCE all season, Say all this nonsence in the end and a camera just happens to go over to them when they are saying it? On top of all that the emotions from the captain who later claimed it was down to hillsborough to why he was crying, for the first time before the anniversary in his entire liverpool career?

I'm sorry but the PR team told them to do that. If they had won the league it would have been marked down by them as an inspirational moment in the season and made Steven to be a fantastic captain for doing that.

That is why i can sit here now happy that none of that happened and they let it slip in the best way possible! Must be great knowing you are 3 points away from the title and that sequence of events happens.

The stereotypical RS has the brains of Doberman from "Bilko". Us Evertonians find the whole huddle charade a first class embarrassment...and that is a microcosm reflecting one of the differences between them and us. Gerrard manipulates the media simply because hes got carte blanche to do so by media and club and this stage-managed "We Go Again" piece of nonsense is one of many. The script isn't even adhered to. One minute saying "Its not about me"...then starting every sentence with "I...I...My...As far as Im concerned..." etc Then after the final game.."Im gutted for me and the fans" in bold headline. Maybe Stevie forgot his lines..... because they simply didn't "Go Again"
