ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Liverpool's success last year was predicated on the realisation that the majority of PL teams were defensively poor, that if high tempo pressure was applied over 90 minutes mistakes would be made. Unintentionally, Liverpool's own defensive frailties might've helped them: teams saw their opportunity to score and went for it instead of sitting deep and planning to contain and break. The Anfield derby is a perfect example of that.

Their run highlighted the lack of clear planning most managers have. The Chelsea game showed what an actual game plan could achieve. I can see European teams nullifying their style next season.

Good point that. It also tends to suggest that next season with a new defensive unit (which I fully expect them to have), one that is more solid and comfortable on the ball, will mean that Liverpool's approach will shift again and they'll build more conservatively from that defensive base. And, to refer back to your point, opposition teams will see a more accomplished defence, not try and force the issue as much with Liverpool and get bodies back behind the ball.

I really don't see a season like last season for Liverpool in 2014/15.

Still LOL!

Look at Slipard there. Like something out of the hangover isn't it. That or that he has just been told the babies not his.

He really has disappeared up his own hoop hasn't he.

Let's see how he copes with losing Suarez and how he spends the windfall.......

The deludeds will be expecting a title challenge again next year and he's never going to deliver it imo, as they won't be a surprise to anyone next year and their opposition will plan to nullify them. He's already shown (and stated) that he's got no 'plan b' so they'll not reach the same level. It just remains to be seen how far they'll fall. If they're outside the top 4 at the mid point, they'll start turning on 'the new Shanks' nailed on.

Slipard has already promised a challenge next year. Think it was more on adrenaline but it came after the Newcastle game in his post match interview. He promised to go one step further when asked about it. I suppose he has to say the right things but he is already piling the pressure on, minutes after ending the season. They've shown in the last 3 weeks that they can't handle pressure very well, especiallly when it gets to the nitty gritty.

But then we wouldn't have had the endless joy of this in glorious hi-def.

I'd never actually noticed the covered face thing all the way to the tunnel. It is some of the strangest behaviour I've ever seen on the field that, not sure he's right in the head that feller you know.
Also some great footage of caved in kopites at the end.

On to the guy at 3:10 picking his nose and then looking right at the camera whilst he eats it.

They wont challenge for the title next season IMO. They had a great run of form, no doubt, but they didn't kop for many suspensions or injuries bar the rat at the start. That's unlikely to happen again. Then throw in extra games too.

Another summer of poor signings and back to scrapping with ourselves, Spurs and the likes will bring the spotlight into harsh focus for cocknose.
I know it sounds like wishful thinking from us, but i really think that Chelsea set the blueprint on how to handle them and other clubs will follow it next year. I'm too lazy to get the stats, but look at their record when they don't score in the first 20-25 minutes...it's not good. They won't be able to go hell for leather for 90 minutes every game.

That video, is the best video i've ever seen in my life.

There is more than one way to skin a cat - let's not forget the 3-3 battering we gave them at our place. That wasn't done by just parking the bus.

Haha that's the first time I have seen that. I was on me hols during the game and there was all my wife's family who support the RS and they were singing and dancing in the kitchen watching the game. It suddenly went very quiet and the missus popped her head in to say Palace had a consolation goal. Suddenly there stream went off and I had live scores on my mobile and seen the 2nd so I shouted them and told em. Game back on and then their stream went off again and I knew it was 3-3. Didn't tell em that time though, let them wait until the stream came back on. Comedy gold moment I can tell you when they realised it was 3-3 and there's little old me trying to keep the big smug grin on my face in check. Beautiful night that was but missed all the fun on here.

When England inevitably lose on pens in Brazil, the blow will be softened if Stevie becomes the next Waddle, Batty etc by missing the decisive kick, preferably with a Terryesque slip on his run up, just to prove lightening can strike twice.

Well, that will be following the team huddle in the centre cricle where he will be heard telling the other players how to take their penalties and we go again.
