Hidden away in an on-line blog. But it's coming out in dribs and drabs this criticism of Gerrard and his status.

Hope so - be interesting on Thurs if GBH slips again and gives the ball to ratboy - will the media call it a great RS move ??? RS fans made up as they are not England fans Ha Ha

After the leaderless loss to Italy, this myth can finally be put to bed.

Brendan Rodgers believes Steven Gerrard's leadership skills have taken the focus from his outstanding form during Liverpool's title challenge and insisted he would not swap his captain for any playmaker in Europe.

The 33-year-old has been instrumental in Liverpool's surge for a first league title since 1990 having adapted superbly to the holding midfield role he was given by Rodgers in January. Gerrard's influence at Liverpool was demonstrated again following last Sunday's crucial victory over Manchester City when he called his team-mates into a huddle and demanded they "go again" at Norwich City on Sunday.

But the midfielder's influence on the pitch is arguably greater than it has been for several seasons and Rodgers believes Gerrard's tactical and technical ability is overlooked. "I think his form sometimes gets lost a wee bit with Steven because his leadership quality in the team is there for all to see," the Liverpool manager said. "We mustn't forget that he's arguably the best in European football in a controlling role at this moment in time.

"There's not many players who can do what he can do – be one of the best attacking midfield players in Europe and then switch to be arguably the best controlling player. You look at the holding players in European football now at the top teams, I wouldn't swap him for any of them, because of what he can give the team." Guardian 18th April.

Who can control a game better, the Italian Pirlo or the English Pirlo - Gerrard? No brainer really.

An embarrassing load of tripe from one fraud about another fraud.

Next season is going to be hilarious, absolutely hilarious.

We don't have to wait for next season for the Carry On hilarity that comes with LFC.

“I’m going to do anything in my power to win this game, just like they are prepared to do anything,” Sturridge responded. “I’m prepared to do anything, and I’m talking anything.”

The way he accentuated that final “anything” brought some knowing smiles from his audience. “I’m being serious,” he continued. “I’m prepared to do anything to win this game. It’s do or die. It’s a World Cup. It means everything. Do we want to go home? No, we don’t want to go home. I want to win this World Cup. I’d be gutted to go home early. I’d be devastated. So I’m being totally honest here. I’m not saying I’m going to dive or do anything that’s not within the laws of the game, but I will do anything to help get a result.”

So, hypothetically, would that mean deliberately going down, in the way Michael Owen did against Argentina in 1998, if he felt the merest contact in the penalty area? It sounded like that was what he was getting at. And we all know Luis Suárez would. “Within the rules of the game, I’ll do anything, just like every Uruguayan player will,” Sturridge reiterated. “They want to go through. We want to go through. I will stay on my feet. I will never dive on purpose. I’m not going to do a handball to stop a goal going in, because it’s not in my nature. We’re an honest country and we go about our business in an honest way. We don’t like to break the rules. We don’t like to cheat to win. We want to play in an honest way. But I will do absolutely anything.”

The game will be hilarious watching two Kopites diving for England, Gerrard as he did against Italy and Sturridge, and another Kopite diving for Uruguay.

The feller's a freaky dancing, God bothering bell end. He's going to do 'everything' he can do, but he's going to also leave out loads of stuff too. Erm.

He's defo caught the Kopite bug of talking in embarrassing nonsensical riddles, where wearing your heart on your sleeve and professing 1000% commitment and passion and love for the cause etc etc come at the expense of an actual constructive thought.

Sturridge has definitely caught the Stevie me bug with his I's, I'ms and I'ds. The whole football world is watching and he comes out and basically declares that he would cheat for the cause, Sturridge is a bit clueless. He has put the hypocritical RS media on the spot.

He's on crack if he actually believes that absolute pile of steaming excrement
