ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

".....Baines not having the personality or character to tell Rooney where he needed to be" Who the hell does Carragher think he is - its up to Rooney to do as hes told by the manager...and the manager to tell him if hes out of order or alter the system. He supposed to be a senior member of the England team and if he hasn't got the discipline, he shouldn't be in the team. That's, of course, if he was playing against instruction. The whole issue also skirts the fact that Rooney has been rank for a long time now...he cant even control the ball at times and is a passenger for most of the games. Id leave him on the bench.
I was also under the impression that the captain had some responsibility in maintaining shape and discipline on the field, or what's the point of having one exactly.
Must just be for sound bites and Mars adverts eh Carra???

Youre right there too..... I overlooked Gerrard in this. Pathetic scenario all round though youd think there was no problem judging by the post-match interviews etc. Damage limitation is one thing....rose tinted glasses another.

The only article that I've seen that pulls up this glaring problem after that England game.

Was worried about it before the world cup. Confirmed it in the first game. But both him and Henderson dodged a bullet for Rooney and Baines to take
It's Stevie and Hendo though...the engine room that fuelled the Liverpool machine to become Christmas Champions 2013 and Easter Champions 2014..

Just baffles me pundits, journos, and ex pros didn't even mention it.

England do play with 4 strikers ffs and no defensive mid. It's nuts.

Because they're lazy and/or weak. It'd take gumption and a bit of pride in their work to look at Gerrard and declare him to have feet of clay. It doesn't fit the narrative and it might get you doors closing in your face.

Gerrard has been poor for a long time now. He plays as if hes wearing deep sea divers weighted boots and his lack of control on the ball is glaring....and I don't mean just the Ba goal 'slip' fiasco (nothing about the mis-control that precipitated it, like) or the ten-to-two feet gait. Its all well Rodgers et al saying how marvellous hes been in 'the new role' at Analfield but that hasn't transferred to the England team at all is spite of the press apologists wearing blinkers to his inadequacies. ' Controlled things from the back' simply isn't good enough at this level when the midfield structure is lightweight

Not matter how it's spun he was a failing key component in a very porous defence last season, next season will be the same. I couldn't stop my self laughing when they announced with pride how he'd signed a two year extension to his contract.

Brenda's motor mouth really has created a (B)rod for his own back next year.

Can't see them challenging for the title again having seen their fixtures.

They won't be able to pick up the early momentum they had last season
