ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

An interesting side issue, bearing in mind the owners of that lot.

Read somewhere that the viewing figures for the latest US match was near 30m. Higher, apparently, than a recent NBA final or something. "Soccer" is getting more and more mainstream stateside..........defo not a minority sport like several years ago......."brands" and all that.......

It will be interesting, to say the least, to see how the RS respond to this.

Class and dignity to the fore?

Hmmm.

My guess?

They'll ignore it completely until the worst of it blows over, before offering full support once pre-season starts and the season nears.

Suarez will say he's deeply sorry (whilst still including a snide remark about how he didn't really do anything wrong), and both Gerrard and Rodgers will insist he's shown deep remorse and will bounce back a better person and better player.

Then in six months time he will do something else completely mental, the FA and/or FIFA will fail to provide a suitable punishment and the cycle will repeat.

Bet you Brenny was watching this in Garlands last night with his head in his hands.......

I've also imagined the news filtering through to the England dressing room. I like to think Barkley was sitting there winding Stevie right up.

La Stampa in Italy laid into Suarez and LFC official Website big time. Link here

"I am blown away by the spontaneity with which the Gunslinger tried the shoulder of Chiellini, by the serenity with which he listened to the charges as if instead of being legitimate criticisms were only acidic. And convinced that "I have a problem with the press", unfortunately he has a real problem and the protective cordon put in place by those around him will not save him. Liverpool, who provide news of the World Cup on the official website omitted the bite from the match report and the coach tried to be indignant to the opinions of others. At least in public. The truth is that it is no longer his problem, Suarez has the maturity and El Maestro needs to rethink education without him."

Liverpool upsetting Italians again.
