ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Are you seriously suggesting that if they buy 2/3 of Sanchez/Cavani/Lavezzi standard of player to replace him they wont improve? Because they will.

They won't be signing any of those players. I'm also not sure whether those 3 would improve them anyway. Sanchez & Cavani would impy sturridge either not playing or being shunted out wide, neither of which would suggest an immediate improvement. Lavezzi would be a great signing for anyone, but Brent's tactics mean that the midfield is largely bypassed anyway.

So if Liverpool sell Suarez and buy well so that they have 3-4 players to replace him, they should be just fine

United sold 3 players and replaced them with 5

Liverpool are selling 1 and will replace with at least 3, if he's sold at all

You do remember it's Brent signing these new players? Lambert...Can...

They aren't attractive enough to the calibre of player that could compensate for Suarez and they aren't in the freakish situation with 3-4 top draw youth players coming through

There is massive upsides to this.

1) Goals and assists taken out the team will mean games will struggle when they need a 30 yard screamer like last year.

2) Gerrard will still be in the team, no world class goal scorer to dig them back out.

3) Change their tactics again, they went from crap to clinical, where will they end up now?

4) If they drop out of top 5 then it will be massive and will be blamed on suarez, compared to the 'we dont want to sell him' atitude now.

5) Money will be pissed away

6) Gerrard will still be there

7) rodgers will be found out tactically if he gets this summer wrong

8) they will rely on these amazing young players to suddenly step up all at the same time.

9) 4 competitions will stretch them far too much, no playing kids in the europa anymore for rodgers.

10) Gerrard will still be there

I don't know why people think Liverpool are suddenly going to start signing established world class players on the back of their first top four finish in five years.

They've already spent almost half of the money on Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Emre Can. I doubt I'll be losing much sleep over whatever Brenny has lined up next.

I really, really hope that they get Balotelli in as a direct replacement.

He's one of the most overrated players in Europe.

Nowhere near Suarez's level...even so, he'd still reject Liverpool. They're not big enough for him. That's just the way the pecking order is at the moment, and Liverpool are defo a division two European club, which is why Sanchez wont be turning up there either.

The good news (for us) is that he'll be able to live off what happened last season even when he gets it wrong this season...so a fourth season with no mark Rodgers at the helm looks a certainty.

CL football or not, Liverpool are now in a massive hole. They have to fund a stadium revamp too.

I'd start worrying about Liverpool again when FSG sell up to an oligarch or sheik of Abramovic/Mansoor proprtions.

No, the players United had in place were BETTER than the outgoing ones. Hughes was 32 and had just scored 8 goals on 34 league games, he was shot. Ince was still a good player but a disruptive influence and Kanchelskis' troubles have been well documented. None of these players were on the level of Suarez.

Ronaldo leaving '09 would be a more apt comparison, however still not quite the same. Despite Ronaldo's brilliance he wasn't as important to United as Suarez is to Liverpool. Also United had probably the greatest football mind of all time leading them... Liverpool Football Club YNWA have Brendan Rodgers.

My memory might be playing tricks, but did Ferguson ever get to spend the Ronaldo cash? Like properly.
