What you have to remember is that last season that title was basically offered up to them by the football gods
if they had possessed a manager with an ounce of tactical awareness and a skipper who wasnt so egotistical they
would have been reigning champions now
This coming season City,United,Chelsea and Arsenal will all have improved far more than they will,Id say 6/7th place
if they go out of the CL early

Van Gaal will get United in a CL spot, you'd have to believe that. City and Chelsea take care of themselves in relation to CL spots. There's one place up for grabs and I wouldn't put tuppence on Liverpool securing it when there's an Arsenal team that's never dropped out of the top four for over a decade and Liverpool have had their best player for years ripped away from them.

In fact, with their heavier workload this season it'll be a shock to their system, so I could conceivably see Liverpool failing to qualify for Europe next season if Spurs improve under Pochettino and we can repeat our performance levels of last season.

Interested whothey buy to replace ballbag upfront.

Don"t think Liverpool can replace what Suarez gave them in the 2013/2014 season however much they spend.
But also don't think he'd be able to do the same for them next season anyway even if they kept him.

As davek says, it is probably only a matter of time till he does something crazy as he doesn't seem to have admitted he has a problem let alone agreed to work on resolving it. And given his history the FA would hand him a huge ban if he stepped out of line.

Suarez has also been an amazingly healthy player - up until his recent operation the only times he didn't play for club/country were because of bans rather than injuries. He has played in one of the most physically demanding leagues for 4 years and in that time hasn't had a summer break (2010 WC, 2011 Copa America, 2012 Olympics,2013 Confederations Cup with Uruaguay to two semis and one final)

But he is approaching the age where all that wear and tear can catch up a player and Liverpool haven't the depth of squad to rest him for the lesser games.

If Liverpool can get in 3 or 4 quality players with the money they bring in for Suarez imo it will work out as a good move.

If they'd got another year out of Suarez it'd have been a good move by Liverpool getting shut for the money being talked about right now. By then they'd have had a chance to showcase themselves in the CL and underline their PL elite credentials and they'd be off up and running again. However, this forced sale (and that's what it is, despite all the BS now being spun by LFC's media helpers) puts a wrecking ball through that possibility. They'll have the problem of replacing a world class player who they relied on thoroughly in terms of goals scored and assists, general link play also, and the added headache of bedding in 6/7 first teamers. That is not conducive to consolidating a position they thought they'd got themselves into on the back of last season's exploits.

It's a massive step back for Liverpool. The fact that Rodgers has money to throw about doesn't even begin to dent that.

Anyone else think the American owners are beginning to stink a little! Very low threshold for the Suarez sale, 80 mill, on top of record tv deal, CL revenue, bumper sponsorship!

Unless they spend over 100 mill, the owners are on the make!

I hope it goes the way Bale did for them, absolutely derails them.
Losing that title race, a player like him.

Not going to be easy. I say this without being a bitter, more as a footy fan. I wouldn't trust Brendan Rodgers with a pair of scissors never mind £70M. He can't possibly come out of this with a job, 18 months i give him.

They have to pay a dividend to those that have invested in FSG adventure in England.

R/s have paid £10m for this guy Can, I just can't think of a Player fro Germany doing well over here, I suppose someone will put me right.

Suarez leaving will set them lot back years. He practically dragged them into 2nd place last year. If Brent's still in charge and doesn't address that defense they're going to get found out big time.
