ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

To me, it just smacks of arrogance

"Yeah, I bought the shirt with Luis on the back, but they'll refund me if he leaves. They'll have to. I don't have to make an informed choice. I'll just do what I want and then I'll cry foul when it turns out I've made a bad decision, rather than holding myself accountable"

I should point out that I wasn't having a specific go at Liverpool fans there but more the consumer culture we live in these days.

When someone makes a bad purchase these days they seemingly never hold themselves accountable and think that Heaven and Earth should be moved by the seller to dig them out of their own hole.

If you purchase anything without thinking about the purchase then it's you and you alone who should be held repsonsible. It's not the fault of Liverpool FC if you choose to get a player's name on your shirt when they are publically negociating with another club to sell him

Ajax get 6.5% of the transfer fee.

Would've thought it would've been higher, unless it's 6.5% of the fee rather than the profit.

They've shot themselves in the foot with this early spending, there's no way they can keep him; even if they could afford to his position would be untenable. Think Barca could say '£60m, take it or leave it, you'll have to start paying him £200,000/wk soon (on a player who can no longer be selected) so the sooner you accept our offer the better'.

Even if his wage hasn't increased yet they're still losing £120k a week on him, if they wait until the end of August and they've lost £1m, not much these days but to a club which is over £120m in debt it's significant. Or at least it should be.

Post-Suarez Brendon... where did it all go wrong?.. I bought in Lambert, what else could I have done?

In fact Barcelona might be minded to let Liverpool pay his wages for the ban and come back in January for an even smaller price.

One good thing about Chewy going is it buys B-Rod at least another two seasons to piss money up the wall
the coming season the blame will fall on the rat leaving for a lesser team and the season after will be because
he has had to change to an even better playing system long may he reign

.....just got around to reading SAF book and interesting is his chapter on the reds. He is very clear in his assessment that Gerrard is not a 'top, top player'. He says the same of

..it is funny how they are 'selling' Suarez as opposed to Barca 'buying' him. I reckon the World Cup biting incident really helped the club handle what was inevitably going to happen. No shirt burning, but don't be surprised if he publicly compares his new club with his old in coming months with disparaging remarks about the reds.

Liverpool have spent the money already - Barca can feign to pull out and tank the price. Great stuff

i'd actually love this to happen. nobody else is even showing a sniff of interest. he may well be finished after his injury, it's a stupid move from barca imo.

he's currently banned so barca should wait until the last time possible. nobody else is interested and like you say, they have to sell if they've spent all the money.

i just don't think they have spent all of his money yet, they're always soundly backed, they have CL money to spend as well now.

la liga will be a two horse race, they could easily win the majority of their games and easily progress in the CL up until jan without him. like i said, there's no guarantee he'll recover from the injury, they shouldn't be splashing out £60m or so on someone with that hinderance, someone who has a terrible reputation littered with bans and has never done it in the big games.
