bit miffed by what rodgers has said about lovren btw. lovren is a decent defender, but is made to look better because he scores goals - hence his high price. excuse me if i'm wrong, but that makes him the opposite of carragher, he's also a tall demanding CB, not something i'd associate with "last-ditch carragher".

he actually labelled him as "number one centre back" love another new position he's come up with, not sure carragher ever was the number one centre back anyway. he normally had a better man next to him who he worked in tandem with e.g. hyypia. rodgers just getting another bit or RS arse licking out of the way to gain more popularity imo, pretty sure he didn't rate carragher that much when he was boss of him.

Without Suarez who draws so much attention from the opposition, not a chance will Sturridge provide the same goal return. I honestly just can't see it. Now that Suarez has packed his bags, the focus from opposing teams will be on Sturridge, at times even double teaming him. This will further affect his ability infront of goal. Unless B-Rod-Bellend brings in a top striking attraction, one that can cause a similar type of havac chewy did, we will see a lot more of Sturridge's arms flopping around. Flopping around in frustration.

I saw the first and last and he looked hopeless in both.

It's hard to tell in friendlies, but I cant even remember him involved in any of the games I watched last year when he was at Leverkusen.

Don't forget Coates (£10m) at 5 or Ilori at 6 (£7m) and coming in at number 7 Kolo Toure who was obviously free but earns £80k a week.

I don't understand how they make ends meet with their limited transfer budget, it's beyond me how the spread it so thinly

They'll probably burst most of the smaller teams in the league with their massively overpriced and overpaid squad. They'll struggle against the bigger boys tho, especially without a match winner like Suarez.

I think our game play last season was based upon intensity in terms of pressure applied and attacking intent

But, chance creation is a Rodgers hallmark, and he won't let that drop, even if we play mostly counterattack.

I would be most hypocritical for anyone to write them of in here whilst saying we have a chance at top 4 on forum 2, based on what we have seen so far, we have just been tonked by some German team I have never heard of whilst they have just tonked Germany's 2nd best team 4-0. they will be up there this season no doubt about it, fast paced, creative football that so far is all we can only dream of.

It was more Germany's 2nd best teams 3rd team.
