They have saddlebags of 'previous' for buying talented/potentially talented and sought-after players..... and turning them into non achievers who turn into peripheral figures. Carroll Torres Keane Downing Aquilani Cisse Borini Meireles Babel Morientes...over £160m worth of star turns who turned into black holes. Rodgers no doubt wants to follow all the great LFC traditions and is continuing the Liverpool Way before FSG shut the till on him.

Hardly say torres was a bad signing lad, was brilliant for them and netted them a huge profit like until spain crocked him and morientes was close to being washed up when he came, rest of them fair shout on though

Markovic is a special player mate, love to say he was gash like but he plainly isnt, just inconsistant atm, hopefully rodgers will want instant sucess on players and hell struggle early on and be froze out

Van Persie AND Rooney can only both play if we stick with the 3-4-1-2 formation. So if make the signings that are rumoured, I'd be happy with this:

Di Maria ------ Herrera ----- NEW CM ---------- Shaw

---------------------- Mata ---------------------

------------- Rooney --------- RVP ---------------


But I can't see LVG wasting Di Maria as a RWB. And Januzaj is a very, very promising player - you couldn't be further from the truth mate.

He's the best right back we've got. Smalling at RB is awful, as is Jones. Valencia is ok there. Rafael can be a loose cannon but when he plays, he transforms our otherwise static attacking play from the right hand side. Very underrated player - they even reckon he's good at RAWK and they NEVER rate any of our players!


Anyway, sorry for the off-topic! :)
 

If they get Balotelli for 17.5 m, what does that bring their net spending upto inthis window?

160 games 66 goals, Hardly an outstanding return given the teams he's turned out for

Don't think its what they need either unless they are going to approach it in a different way, Last season they relied on pace,pace and pace

What about Dani Alves as right back ? I dont rate him much myself (i always prefered maicon) but its better to look at the overall picture e.g. how does he fit into the team. Still think a new centre half is needed in the Hummels or maybe try to ressurect Juan Jesus at Inter. (sorry i couldnt resist) As for midfield maybe song of Barca or Irrallemendi of Real could do the job ?

To any rational fan it doesn't make much difference mate. It's just another Igor Aspas or a Luis Alberto at the end of the day.

However to them it's everything. They need to be seen as being bigger and better than anyone else. They needed him to be more expensive than Gareth Bale because for years they've told everyone how he's the best footballer in the world. They needed it so they could say 'look at us everybody, we're still important,, look at us, please'. Were as they used to win leagues and European Cups, they now marvel in things like Pepe Reina winning the golden gloves and their players transfer fees.
