ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Being honest, where do you see Pool finishing this season guys? I can only see a 3rd/4th place finish for them again. United aren't going to pip them to Top 4 this season, not until we've sorted out our many problems. And that just means they'll get even stronger next summer, CL footy on offer is a powerful tool in modern footy.

Dunno mate. They looked decent for 40 mins against City I thought, but other than Sterling, not much up top. Understandable really. Were outplayed by Southampton at home for long periods from what I saw.

Let the window close, and after 1/2 dozen games might have a better idea.

So thats my fence sat on.

All depends on injuries

If Sturridge/Sterling are out for long periods they could really struggle

Just thinking how he perceived fixing the defence, it looks worst than ever on Monday.

Yep, come on Spurs! They seem to have an unhealthy obsession with you lot over at RAWK too, it's weird.

Because they think (rightly or wrongly) that they are massive compared to us & got the hump because their targets kept on opting for Spurs instead so they got the right hump. Added to that we kept turning them over regularly & easily during the Redknapp years.

I keep reading this at the United forums too. This can be applied to every team in the league.

Take Rooney/RVP out of United.

Take Lukaku out of Everton.

Take Giroud out of Arsenal.

Etc :)

I think they'll be very lucky to make top 4. I suspect us and Spurs to duke it out for the final CL spot behind the likes of City, Chelsea and Arsenal. I'd be more inclined to think the Crimson Stain will be battling your lot for sixth.

Arsenal and Everton have at least somewhat decent defenses and midfields though. (Exceptional attacking midfield in the case of Arsenal).

Liverpool live and die by the number of goals they score. If their attack gets weakened significantly by something like a longterm Sturridge injury then I don't see how they can really be anything better than Southampton were last season. Everton/Arsenal/Spurs all have more balance to their squads and a significant injury just means they should drop a place or two in the final standings.

United...I don't even know...they have so many attackers it seems like they should be able to score buckets regardless of injuries...but they aren't yet, so I'm not going to say anything one way or another on them.

Why do you think Everton and Spurs will battle it out for 4th instead of Pool? They've just invested a huge amount of money on their squad and it's much improved.

I hate them as much as you but that's extreme wishful thinking in my opinion.

I also think Europa League footy will hinder you and Spurs this season - just look at Swansea last season.

They have more players of a decent standard. But they lost their only world class player. Gerrard is a year older, Pulis and Mourinho showed the league how to beat them, and they really haven't spent terribly well.

I could see them fighting for fourth, alongside Spurs, us, and maybe you (assuming Van Gaal does sort it out), but I really don't see them as certs for CL.

I think Swansea were more affected by Europe than either Spurs or we will be simply due to squad size and quality. The last time we were in Europe our league form didn't suffer a bit. Spurs have been in Europe for years now with variable results on their league form.

They'll still ship goals, and without Suarez I could see a lot of the wins last year turning into draws for them.

They also have Europe to focus on this year, which they haven't had for a bit.

I predict some big fuming from either Bollatelli or Sturridge the moment one of them is left out of an important CL game. They can't play in the same team, and they both think they should be the main man. Can't wait for things to explode

I hope you guys are right, I'd love to see Everton or Spurs get 4th instead of Pool. But I can't see it - I've been wrong before though and I'll be wrong again.

My early predictions:

1. Chelsea
2. Man City
3. Arsenal
4. Liverpool

Then take your pick between 5th, 6th and 7th. Not having any European (or League Cup!) commitments will help us a lot now. One game a week, loads of time training and not travelling to places likes Russia - will do us good.
