Think McCarthy reads the game a bit better than Henderson does and tackles very well, so he's a better destroyer type, but Henderson moves up with play better than Jimmy does and has a bit more drive to his game as it stands I'd say.

You're right I suppose, I was thinking in the media but that's full of kopites anyway. I don't think he's good enough to be an England regular though.

James is a much better tackler then Henderson and a better engine, also put his body on the line where Henderson runs at players and pressures them without tackling and offers more forward. James is a better player at a defensive midfielder.

Exactly right, as a mad dog in Liverpool's Gerrard centric kick and rush counter attack system he's a useful player. In a midfield that wants to get on the ball and make the play he's severely limited. In a weird way he's a better player off the ball than he is with it.

McCarthy can do the mad dog role but he's also got the tactical awareness to defensively cover team mares that Henderson doesn't have. McCarthy can also monopolise possession in a way Henderson cant so for me he's a better player.

Think it depends on Sturridge's ongoing fitness. If he and Sterling are playing well together that'll be enough for them to get at least 6th, well that and about a dozen soft pennos.
