ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

think this summer proved that not to be the case?

totally opposite for liverpool. like what you said, all their fans were saying things like "why did we buy balotelli, why didn't we go for benzema? etc"

ha, as if benzema would go there, they're too unrealistic, the think about their transfer business as if it's FIFA on the XBOX and you can just buy anyone.

Utd's solution was 'throw enough money at the problem and make it go away'. Lord knows what sort of wages they're paying the likes of Di Maria, Falcao, Mata etc in order to entice them to a club with no current European football.

Too much, is the answer. And Falcao has played about 2 minutes since joining too - bit of a joke, that.

Mata and Di Maria have (kind of) earned their wages though. Scored some vital goals.

Personally I was hoping that Utd's failures of last season was going to beckon in a new era for them, spending a few years milling around 3rd-5th, purely cos I'm a bit sick of seeing Utd up there at the top all the time.

Seeing them lob £££ at players in an attempt to catapult the club back to the top (and would appear it might be working) sticks in the craw a bit. I fully expect it will be business as usual come next season.

I can see why it annoys opposing footy fans but to be fair, it's not like we've got lucky and some oil baron has taken us over. We built what we have.

If anything, it's about time we threw the cash around like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich do every summer. We still need more quality but yeah, we'll be challenging for honours again in a year or two. The game is all about money now, unfortunately - if you don't spend it, you won't challenge.

Tis true, I accept it's made-money you're spending, not sugar-daddy-money.

Just a thought

Rodgers gets liverpool to second in his debut season

Martinez gets everton to 5th in his debut season

Rodgers has liverpool 9th in his second season

Martinez has everton 12th in his second season

I hate the cringy whopper as much as the next man but perhaps we shouldn't crow too much about how crap a manager he is.

And yes I know they're spent more money than us

You tell him Mooms....... We are not amoosed.

But there really is no escaping the fact that Rodgers has spent a huge sum of transfer money since he's been at Liverpool. Martinez hasn't spent anywhere near what BR has in his time at Everton.

I think both managers are overrated in actual fact - but it would be interesting, and fair, to debate both managers on a level playing field. I personally would trust RM with £100 million far more than I would Brent.

Rodgers just spent £110 million in one summer.

Just saying.

Hilarious waffle from some kopite here

Patting himself on the back for a prediction that hasn't even come true yet. We've had a far harder start to the season and after next weekend's fixtures we'll be ahead of them.

Basically he's been banging on about the ageing squad but our performances have prevented him taking any credit, first run of bad form and he thinks he's Nostradamus.

lolz. well done to the most bitter fans in the world - liverpool.

RAWK is full of middle aged men with nothing better to do but make up stories online. i love their obsession with our "finishing above liverpool trophies". if they could find out where this mystical cabinet is held i'd love to know. could be worse, we could print t-shirts and employ jobs celebrating something that didn't happen.

regarding the blue santa outfit ha - "we have blue gravel because we're scared of the colour red". "we wear blue shirts because we're scared of the colour red" lolz. bless them.
