ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

If my hatred for Andy Townsend was say 90/100. Then after listening to his unbiased commentary on tuesday, i reckon my hatred has no bounds now. I always try to give second chances but deary me i hope someone cuts Townsends tongue out. Seeing Gerrard at the end, i was expecting him to push the camera away like he did at Palace, yet against United he started throwing the lips on the lens. The creased head beaut.

I'm so sick of Tyldesley and Townsend, and not just their biased RS commentaries, that in future I'll be turning the sound off !!

Tyldesley is terrible when we (United) are on ITV - (ROOOOOONEEEEEEEEEEEH!)

Townsend is just awful whenever any English/British club is involved against those orrible foreign sides.

Can't stand ITV, awful awful channel. I never, ever watch it unless it's a big CL game.

The worst thing about Tyldesley is I'm pretty certain that he used to be an Everton supporter, but now even if he won't admit to it, he's unashamedly and blatantly a Manu fan.
Townsend and Chiles are both ar5seholes and how ITV keep using them is beyond me.

I don't know about kneejerk mate, it's modern footy for you. The thing is, it's not as if it's "Plucky ol Rodgers who got a team to 2nd place without spending any cash." He has spent TWO HUNDRED MILLION since being manager at Pool is what i've read.

He'll have targets, like every manager, set by the owners. If they think Pool will fail to finish 4th, when he's spunked tonnes of their cash on duds, then they're well within their rights to address the managerial situation.
They'll bullet him without thinking twice:

You only have to look at the owners’ handling of the Boston Red Sox when they took over the running of the baseball club in the spring of 2002.

Within weeks, Boston’s general manager and team manager had both been replaced.

The Sox enjoyed a reasonably successful year but failed to make the play-offs and the following spring the owners brought in a new general manager.

Team manager Grady Little kept his job and the Red Sox embarked on a run that would take them desperately close to making the World Series, the climax of the Major League Baseball season.

However, in the pivotal game seven of the American League Championship Series against their deadliest rivals, the New York Yankees, a crucial decision by manager Little backfired.

The Yankees went on to win the game and reach the World Series leaving Red Sox Nation – the name given to Boston’s massively-loyal fanbase – heartbroken yet again.

Little’s contract was not renewed and the owners appointed former Philadelphia Phillies manager Terry Francona.

I watched the match in the pub so I never heard the commentary, is there any way I can re live it?

Actually, it is partly Man Utd's fault.
Back in the 90s, the G12 or G16 or however many there were at the time (of which Man Utd were a founding member) pressured UEFA into expanding the European cup so that runners up could qualify in order to minimise the chance of them missing out on the huge windfalls on offer. They also wanted a league format so that they could have a bad result and still stay in the comp, then they insisted on seeding to help them all get further in the tournament. And all the smaller nations can have their little qualifying playoffs to entitle them to play against the big boys, not enough money to be made from playing some Estonian team when you could play Barcelona.
They threatened to form a breakaway league if their demands weren't met, UEFA buckled and it has progressively got easier for the bigger clubs to get their annual wad of cash.
And due to the Man City's/PSGs/Chelsea's now threatening their little clique, all of a sudden we have FFP to stop any more clubs trying to muscle in on their turf.
Jim's not having that.

But according to some of you, Sterling is rubbish - so Liverpool are better without him, right?

In all seriousness, this is where Liverpool struggle compared to Man City, Chelsea and ourselves. They can't pay the HUGE wages that the big clubs do.

Sterling will look to join Man City or Chelsea eventually.

Looks like United do have something in common with City and Chelsea.
